Test Automation Engineer

  • Performance test software applications in repeatable test scenarios
  • Front-End Browser based operations
  • API/Webservice transactions
  • Data setup transactions
  • SQL transactions
  • Write detailed acceptance criteria for testing
  • Assist in the development of test plans, status tracking and reporting, and production of high quality deliverables for clients
  • Aid in defining processes to be implemented to resolve and avoid future performance problems
  • Support business users during business process testing
  • Execute test criteria
  • Facilitate the development, implementation and adherence to good industry practices / Deloitte testing standards
  • Understand and anticipate client requirements, and develop client relationships
  • Evaluate, maintain and improve testing roles and responsibilities within the product development life-cycle
  • Review functional design specifications
  • 3+ years’ experience of testing with at least 2 years’ focussing on automated testing and a proven track record in delivering performance test results.
  • Familiarity with industry standards
  • Relevant IT degree and software testing qualifications (e.g. ISTQB)
  • Strong understanding of the Continuous Integration pipeline model and the importance of automation in this
  • Strong understanding of back-end/API connectivity
  • Understanding of XML and JSON, and how they are used in SOAP/REST based APIs
  • Experience working with  automation tools: Specflow, Selenium, Jenkins, TFS, and Git
  • Knowledge of the Software Delivery Lifecycle and Agile
  • Knowledge and experience of application development
  • Knowledge of Java, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JS frameworks
  • Knowledge of test tracking tools e.g. Jira
  • Good to have:
  • Experience working with performance testing tools: JMeter, WebLOAD
  • Experience with Postman/Insomnia/JMeter
  • Strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, and personal skills
  • A self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative, to tight deadlines and evolving priorities
  • Meticulous in attention to detail and good judgment with a keen eye for testability, robustness, and performance
  • Demonstrated application of testing best practices
  • The ability to work to agreed deadlines and experience of motivating team members to complete tasks
