Network Delivery Manager

The role of Network Delivery Manager in the Technology Team is to manage the delivery of a portfolio of projects, linked around a common technology theme and common strategy of migrating the client’s data centre to cloud.

This role is specifically to provide Delivery management support to the client’s Technology projects that have an emphasis on migration of legacy systems and infrastructure to cloud, as well as upgrades to existing applications etc and are more likely to be delivered according to Waterfall principles (with some opportunities for Agile methodologies).

The particular focus of the role for the first 12 months includes the following:

Project mobilisation

  • Supporting wider programme team to meet project initiation and manage requirements.
  • Development of people and wider resource plans
  • Reviewing existing governance and reporting requirements with a view to supporting and supplementing same
  • Reviewing existing delivery toolkits and processes with a view to identifying and right-sizing project governance and other controls
  • Support funding requests and approval processes

Stakeholder mapping and engagement

  • Work with client’s business engagement leads to identify and document stakeholder maps.
  • Work with technical and wider programme resources to complete business impact assessments
  • Support engagement and change management activities.

Risk and issue management

  • Conduct risk and impact assessments as required, including related requirements for change management approvals.
  • Work with Programme and other support teams to proactively identify, diagnose and resolve issues or constraints.
     

Project monitoring and control

  • Review of Programme level project materials and identification of the client’s business and technical requirements
  • Establishment and maintenance of project specific RAID
  • Submission of weekly and monthly reports in line with project governance requirements and processes

Co-ordinate, support and monitor the delivery of each work package, not limited to:

  • Design
  • Application transformation
  • Infrastructure packages
  • Migration, etc.
  • Cyber Security, Data Protection assessment

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and directing project deliverables so that they align with the strategic, technical and delivery vision for the MITC (Make IT Current) and Data Centre Migration (DCM) Programmes in the SRP (Strategic Remediation Programme)Team, while ensuring that project costs, schedule, risk and quality and business outcomes / KPIs are monitored and controlled.

  1. 1. Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Internal Stakeholder Management

  • Identify the key internal stakeholder groups and build successful working relationships to ensure your team presents a unified interface to the wider Technology community.
  • Manage internal communication such that Delivery team and internal stakeholders are provided with regular status on your team’s activities.
  • Acting as the internal point of escalation for all items that pertain to your team’s activities within Technology.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders within the client’s organisation and cultivating successful relationships with stakeholders.

Revenue/KPI Responsibilities

  • Ensure that project achieves financial KPIs in line with agreed project targets and KPIs.
  • Forecast accuracy for both firm and pipeline project costs.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to your team to achieve these KPIs.

Governance & Communication

  • Establish and implement strong governance across the project.
  • Manage internal communication, ensuring all internal stakeholders are informed, consulted as appropriate on items of relevance through the lifecycle of the project.
  • Ensure best practice around risk management, reporting (internal, external) and communication are applied.

Essential Qualifications/Experience

  • Relevant 3rd level qualification with a strong technical focus
  • Excellent knowledge and proven experience of working with IT Software Development Lifecycle methodologies including Waterfall & Agile
  • Possess at least 10+ years of professional experience, with a minimum of 8 years in project or programme management.
  • Experience in working with third party suppliers in the delivery of business or IT change initiatives – including experience of working with remote and co-located teams and vendors.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite, including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience of implementing infrastructure and/or Database and software projects with significant budgets
  • Experience leading projects based on legacy technologies in an organisation.

  • A strong understanding of best practises, tools and techniques for project management and programme management with ability to continuously improve these processes.
  • Ability to understand the technical goals\deliverables and their corresponding business value.
  • Ability to understand the technical challenges and be able to communicate them to a technical and a non-technical audience.
  • A strong sense of ownership for project deliveries.
  • Acute understanding and ability to demonstrate expertise in Quality Management, Project Planning, Risk & Change management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally at levels up to Director and C Suite, and ability to make complex technology problem simple to the business. Must be capable of understanding and communicating the “big picture”.
  • Strong negotiation skills with proven ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders and to influence stakeholders in support of project delivery.
  • Robust relationship management, capable of working with all levels within the organisation by building effective relationships.
  • An effective team manager with proven ability to build, motivate and support a high performing team.
  • Highly motivated, driven, pragmatic and completely focused on project delivery for business benefit
  • Ability to fulfil the servant leader role and recognise future blockers\risk and be able to navigate around them.
  • Strong listening, analytical, problem solving and, with close attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate conflict resolution skills – driving resolution of any project conflict.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
  • Able to pass a strict airport security vetting procedure which includes a 5-year background check or be in possession of a current airside pass

Desirable Criteria

  • PMI/Prince 2 certification or similar PM accreditation
  • A technical background is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IT and Digital systems, including experience of leading significant projects involving infrastructure, applications, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Good understanding of the technical architecture underpinning the IT service landscape in e-Commerce, Online Media or Information Technology & Services environments
