Director - Change & Transformation

Key Responsibilities:     

Transformation planning and governance:

  • Define and plan a portfolio of transformation initiatives that aligns to delivering Grant Thornton’s 2020 strategy.   Ensure the plan clearly identifies roles, responsibilities, timelines and accountabilities
  • Working with Partners and other senior leaders, articulate and cascade Grant Thornton’s vision into prioritised initiatives and build these initiatives into the overall transformation plan.
  • Continuosly improve governance structures that supports the implementation of transformation initiatives.
  • Translate initiatives into defined programs and projects.  Identify interdependencies, sequencing and prioritisation required across transformation initiatives.
  • Proactively work cross functionally across all business units to define, scope and articulate the details behind each initiative to enable successful implementation.
  • Take a leading role within the firm’sdecision making framework to prioritise initiatives and ensure new / revised initiatives are approved and aligned to strategic objectives.  Ensure we’re doing the right things, not just doing things right.
  • Coordinate the delivery of these interdependent initiatives across all business units and ensure that the initiatives are scaleable and sustainable

Continuous Transformation:

  • Lead a team of Project Managers and Coordinators who are responsible for the operational goals of the Change and Transformation team
  • Manage ongoing delivery of transformation initiatives – ensure project management practices and processes to deliver projects successfully are delivered by the project managers; projects are delivered on-time, to budget and to a high quality.
  • Provide direction to project teams to enable timely delivery against agreed milestones.
  • Work with relevant business units to ensure transformation initiatives can be implemented alongside their day-to-day jobs – provide assistance on how to prioritise and resource initiatives effectively.
  • Design and deploy the metrics / measurement infrastructure required to monitor operational and transformational performance.
  • Assess trends and technology that may impact the transformation (positively / negatively) and re-scope the transformation plan accordingly.
  • Review and re-align operating model elements to ensure the organisation can achieve its strategy – proactively identify transformation / reengineering opportunities across people, process and technology.

  • The ability to communicate ideas effectively both oral and written.

  • Understands the competitive position of  the Firm in the market and always keeps  long term goals in mind when altering work approaches, does not deal with issues on an  isolated basis.
  • Uses critical thinking to understand the  impact of their decisions on the business as  a whole and ensures both alignment with  organisational goals and accountability for  results.
  • Creates a culture of forward and critical  thinking and encourages teams to take  a long term view of challenges and  opportunities.

  • Experience
  •  
  • 10+ years working in consulting, project management, transformation environment.
  • Experience leading enterprise level change programs.
  • Strong vendor management experience is key.
  • A degree or similar in business, finance, or economic related discipline.
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills - Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio a plus.
  • Project management certification (PMP or Prince II) an advantage.
  • Lean six sigma qualification is beneficial.

 

Stakeholder and Change Management:

  • Collaborate and actively engage with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation to ensure successful delivery of transformation initiatives
  • Communication planning – develop communication plans aligned to transformation initiatives that clearly identify audiences, channels and mediums required.
  • Stakeholder management – ensure business buy in using evidence based approaches

Strategic Support:

  • Act as a bridge between “strategic planning” and “execution” – translate strategic objectives into defined programs and projects and follow through on “getting things done”.
  • Provide insights and analytics for strategic decision support e.g. client insights, financial analysis.
  • Proactively highlight issues / risks / opportunities to enable timely interventions and adjustments e.g. realign the transformation portfolio when strategic objectives change.
  • Assist senior executives to define and articulate its strategy / transformation program and assist communicating this organisation wide.
  • Support strategy planning cycles and strategy reviews – ensure strategic changes are reflected in transformation plans.
