Database Administrator

Involvement in planning, designing, creating, installing, customization, upgrades and maintaining of databases to meet defined requirements.

Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve database problems and provide critical updates when required.

Ensure database maintenance, support, installations, upgrades, performance monitoring, and storage administration is carried out.

Perform tuning of SQL queries and procedures.

Evaluate and recommend new database technologies such as EDB PostgreSQL.

Perform backup & restore requests according deployment cycles.

Work with Application teams for code releases, performance support and database uptime (such as Oracle Enterprise 12C and 19C).

Participate in global DBA support on-call rotation and provide change management support during the weekend when on call.

Actively participate, enforce, and follow syncreon’s Change, Incident, and Problem management processes.

Maintain detailed implementation documentation and updates as needed.

Work with DBA team, internal and external customers in a professional manner.

Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience as Database Administrator.

Experience in at least 2 of the following: Oracle (versions 11g, 12c, 19c), PostgreSQL (versions 11, 12, 13), OpenEdge Progress (versions 9, 10, 11) or SQL (versions 2017, 2019).

Working in environments such as RedHat Linux, HPUX 11i, Windows 2008 and 2012.

Knowledge of analysis & tuning of database performance related issues.

Experience in High Availability 24x7 database environments.

Experience in working with programming languages (Python, R, Perl, Java, Bash, Powershell).

Strong understanding of database licensing.

Able to multitask and prioritise under pressure.

Previous experience following change management and change control processes.

Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work in both a team and independent environment effectively.
