Role summary

Local IT serves as the 2nd Level IT Support for employees of SAP Ireland. This role is vital to operational support, planning infrastructure changes with our central network engineers, creating and maintaining documentation of all infrastructure and disaster recovery procedures, developing business process improvements for our support organization. The role is broad in scope and encompasses all areas of IT.
 
Alongside the standard operational topics. Some of the current projects within the scope of the job are about maintaining Power Bi dashboards for monitoring network usage, network upgrades, network documentation, Pepper robot for IT support, tracking and monitoring of IT equipment used in meeting and demo areas. Power suite applications and automation for critical business processes.

What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for assisting the team with administration of the IT operations, cost management, project management, infrastructure support, procurement and administration.

Process improvement and innovation are key requirements of the role that should be exercised at all opportunities. 

  • Monitor effectiveness of vendor support & escalate issues. 
  • Knowledge transfer to team members and the business. 
  • Event production and support business/LOB events.
  • Produce documentation for systems deployed and all changes made. 
  • Work with the other technical teams to provide robust networking solutions.  
  • Drive improvements within local IT utilising technology, IoT, agile methodologies and reporting analytics on end-user experience.  
  • Communication: Builds collaborative work relationships with similar functions across SAP; Communicates clearly, in a way that others can understand within defined processes & policies.
  • Contribute to the management and maintenance of network equipment to maintain the business' core network infrastructure (Troubleshoot routing, switching and connectivity issues).
  • Build action plans to improve experience, processes and product innovation.  
  • Provide a stable IT environment to the local business to ensure the business. continuity of the IT services. and acts as an IT contact for all local topics.  


Additional Roles in Local IT

  • AV & Event support, planning and implementation. 
  • Management/Operational task of the Telephony Infrastructure. 
  • Disaster recovery, planning and testing.  
  • Manage and maintain IT Server/Network infrastructure/Desktop environment. 
  • Network security - includes firewalls, anti-virus, data protection & intrusion prevention.
  • Plans, designs, documents, orders, implements and leads installation projects (Working with external vendors). 

Meet the team:

The local IT team develops and provides products and services to optimize/automate IT infrastructure services, improves work efficiency and liaises with 3rd level Support.

 

The team provides technical assistance and knowledge to our managed service of 2nd level staff, 

revises and updates existing programs and submits required documentation. 

Handles cross-infrastructure topics to perform all tasks related to infrastructure integration. 

Overall monitoring, operating, and supporting of all IT systems in Ireland.

What you’ll need

  • You have at least 5 years of relevant experience in the 2nd level IT support role, technical customer support or technical implementation roles.
    General IT knowledge on different technical areas with a high degree of technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • An strong understanding of network fundamentals and endpoint connectivity troubleshooting on wired and wireless networks. 
  • Experience with IT asset management systems and a strong competence with various job-relevant tools & processes.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively to lead and drive successful implementation/ adoption of IT services.
  • Strong project management skills and understating of agile methodologies. 
  • Technical leadership experience including excellent customer focus and communication skills.
  • Strong computing skills, orientated towards - Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android,SharePoint and the Office 365 power suite.
