Position Description

ESB’s IT Delivery are responsible for the design, delivery and support of all activities associated with ESB’s IT strategy through innovative IT solutions for all businesses. IT’s Project Management Office (PMO) provides a range of project management services to the IT function in ESB as well as to the ESB Business Units.

The BA & Test Services Team sits within the PMO and works with external Partners to provide a full range of test and Business Analysis services to IT project teams. These services include Functional Test Management, Functional Testing, Performance Test Management, Performance Testing, Mobile Testing, Test Automation and Quality Reviews. Demand for these services has grown significantly in the past year and we are recruiting Test Professionals with experience in the Tesr Management to work across a range of IT Projects.

The Test Manager is responsible for software quality on IT projects. The role involves implementing the right quality controls,  resource planning and management, and the resolution of issues that impede the test effort.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilites of this role will include but are not limited to:

• Overall responsibility for Test Management activities within the projects
• Create and drive a Test Strategy in line with IT Quality Frameworks including functional and non-functional testing, and test Automation
• Responsibility test resource planning and management of IT, Business and Offshore test resources to ensure successful deployment of project deliverables into Production environments
• Chairing and managing the defect resolution process
• Presentation of Project Progress/Status reports and Test Exit reports to Business and Project stakeholders across all test phases.
• Responsible for Requirement analysis ensuring requirements coverage from a test perspective through a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM), and including test prioritisation and risk evaluation across multiple work streams
• Working with Business and Tecnnical stakeholders to define software quality gates
• Ensuring quality gates are adhered to as per the OverarchingTest Strategy for all teams
• Management of Project test risks/issues, ensuring timely escalation as required
• Train and coach test team members where required
• Prepare and validate Project test effort estimations
• Document and execute test cases, user stories etc. utilising IT Test Management tools
• Deliver Test Management across a range of waterfall and agile Project delivery methodologies
• Supporting the BA & Test Service Leads where required:
  • Review Technical standards to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Validating estimations of effort by IT and Partners and assisting with the identification of future testing requirements on new and inflight projects.
  • Monitor and review technical standards to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Proactively identify opportunities & implement improvements to Test Management practices on projects and contribute to improving overall Quality Management on projects.

Essential

Applicants should be delivery focused and have the following demonstrable knowledge skills and experience:

• Minimum 5 years’ relevant business/IT, with at least 2 years’ experience of managing and co-ordinating the testing effort on software projects.
• Outstanding reporting, analytical and documentation/writing experience
• Demonstrable experience planning, controlling and delivering enterprise level testing on a number of projects.
• Applicants should have excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills combined with strong analytical skills.
• Experience in various structured project management techniques (Waterfall & Agile) combined with a knowledge of information systems and technology and the application of these to process improvement projects.

Desirable

• Experience with SAP landscapes and applications
• Experience of Test Management for other Utilities
• Knowledge/experience in implementing and managing Test Automation frameworks
• Experience using HP Quality Centre for Test Management.
• Knowledge/Experience of Azure DevOPs for test requirements, and test management

Qualifications

Essential

• Third level qualification in IT / Computing (or equivalent) or equivalent work experience
• ISTQB in Advanced Test Management (or equivalent).
