Test Engineer

Zurich IT Department is currently divided between two locations in Dublin (Ballsbridge & Blackrock).
The role advertised will be predominately based in Ballsbridge with the primary focus on supporting the Zurich General Insurance business. 

The IT team & test team works closely with local Business Change, local subject matter experts and key 3rd parties to deliver and manage IT solutions that support the business strategy of Zurich Ireland.

Zurich Insurance Plc is looking for a Test Engineer to play a key role in the IT Department and be involved in design, implement and execute both automated and manual test scripts following agreed test plan. You will provide detailed analysis of all testing carried out on the environments ensuring all bugs, risks and issues are logged correctly and collaborate and work with cross-functional teams to understand the key goals/objectives of any test request. You will also report progress of testing activities to the Test Lead

Consideration will be given for candidates who may not have Testing experience but have general Insurance domain knowledge.
Cross training and upskilling will be provided for suitable candidates.

 

Your Role

As a Test Engineer your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Work with the Automation and wider Engineering teams to ensure achievement of targets are in line with operational plans and timescales.
  • Develop, execute, and debug automated tests
  • Tracking, control and resolution of testing issues and queries.
  • Executes test cases as per the agreed testing plan, log and retest defects as necessary using the appropriate test tools.

  • Experience in all areas of the software development life cycle.
  • Responds maturely to ambiguity and complexity.

As a Test Engineer your skills and qualifications will include: 

  • 1-3 hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (Selenium webdriver)
  • Exposure/Experience to at least one software programming language (Python, Java, etc)
  • Exposure/Experience with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA Scripting)
  • A strong knowledge of testing principles and lifecycles (SDLC)
  • Ability to pick up and learn a new language and/or framework
  • Formal qualification in Software Testing, would be an advantage
  • General Insurance industry knowledge, would be an advantage
  • Experience in software testing in iSeries environment would be an advantage
  • Experience with working with offshore colleagues, would be an advantage
  • Experience with API testing frameworks such as Postman, Swagger, Rest Assured, would be an advantage
