Technical Lead, Backend, Data Sync

We’re looking for passionate engineers & leaders to help us build data sync, the foundation of HubSpot’s Operations Hub product. By connecting HubSpot to many business apps with a powerful two-way data sync, we unite all customer data in a single well-integrated CRM platform.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Work on a product used by thousands of HubSpot customers as a critical process they rely on every day.
  • Partner with a triad (Product Manager and Product Designer) to design, scope, and deliver solutions to help our customers manage and grow their businesses.
  • Help set our product and technology vision.
  • Work with Platform and Frontend teams to expose complex Sync functionality in a powerful but also easy-to-use way - aiming for a customer experience where Sync “just works”.
  • Work with the broader HubSpot Product organization to embed Sync features across HubSpot’s products.
  • Build API’s that power both Sync configuration (seamlessly setting up a sync) and Sync insights (reporting on how the sync is doing).
  • Build distributed services and/or data-intensive applications primarily using Modern Java, but also leveraging technologies like Kafka, Vitess (MySQL), HBase, Elasticsearch, Protocol Buffers, …
  • Like the idea of leading a small, customer-driven development team of 3-5 engineers.
  • Have previous software engineering experience in a senior or tech lead position - managing engineers and taking responsibility for the team’s software design and delivery, while making individual contributions to the codebase.
  • Prioritize People and Product over strict Processes.
  • Have shown that they can build creative solutions for complicated technical problems while analyzing tradeoffs with empathy.
  • Communicate well and constructively in strong working relationships within the team and across the organization.
  • Foster an environment that encourages autonomy and psychological safety.
  • Have coaching and mentorship experience
