Senior UX Researcher

We are growing the Optum User Experience Design Studio (UXDS) in Dublin and are looking for a creative and technically savvy Senior User Experience Researcher to join our team. You will be joining an established UX Studio in Dublin, with over 24 team members. Globally we have the support of over 160 as part of the global UXDS team. You will work within a collaborative, cross-functional team, following a user-centered design process, as we design a better health care experience. In this role you will be working with the portfolio team, as well as supporting the design and product team with research and engagement to learn about the user experience.

  • Identify user needs and goals, design and conduct research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, and analyze and report data gathered for Optum products
  • Design, conduct, analyze, and report data gathered from qualitative and quantitative research techniques including key-stroke level modeling (KLM), usability testing, contextual inquiry / field studies, surveys, interviews, heuristic evaluations, focus groups, card sorts, ethnography and persona development, and rapid iterative testing within an Agile environment
  • Assist with managing the lab schedule and equipment for Eden Prairie lab facility
  • Provide tours showcasing the equipment and research methods used in the state-of-the-art lab
  • Work with product teams to identify and prioritize user research requirements, including timelines, scope, and methodologies
  • Collaborate with product teams to remediate issues identified from research
  • Advocate for user research principles
  • Collaborate with product teams to develop research goals, identify tasks and scenarios, and establish a test environment
  • Create and deliver test result reports including statistical analysis
  • Analyze & explore UX/CX data to uncover trends and provide insights to project teams
  • Establish research and usability metrics strategies for project teams
  • An undergraduate degree in Human-Computer Interaction, a related field or education experience in user experience research for the web following user-centered design principles
  • Significant experience as a usability practitioner with the healthcare industry
  • Significant demonstrated experience delivering user research, including but not limited to developing user personas, conducting field studies / contextual inquiry, and usability testing
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Proven ability to deliver research on time while working on multiple projects
  • Experience with statistical analysis of UX metrics (R, Python, SPSS, or similar)
  • Eye-tracking experience
  • Experience with CogTool
  • Data science or social science experience
  • Experience with tools such as Measuring U IQ, UserTesting.com, Optimal Workshop and other industry standard tools
  • Agile experience
  • Healthcare Industry experience
  • Commercial software experience or enterprise applications
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent leadership and relationship building skills
  • High level of energy and customer focus
