Senior Project Manager

The European Project Management Team manages the European business project portfolio, we plan and execute business projects for all areas within Elavon Merchant Services. The primary focus of the team is to support a range of projects: Product Go to Market, Revenue and Growth initiatives, Customer Experience, and Risk & Compliance. The team works closely with Agile Value Streams within Elavon, for technical delivery.

The team follows PMP/Prince project methodology in conjunction with SAFE Agile for project processes and governance.

This role will focus on leading projects on Go-to-market and commercialisation for key business initiatives and solutions, as part of a significant investment portfolio focused on accelerating business growth, working closely with executive stakeholders in the business across all functions.

 

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for managing multiple projects or multiple workstreams within a complex project. A Project Manager requires high flexibility and agility as the PM will navigate work for multiple teams (business, stakeholders, customers) spanning multiple time zones.  Work with project teams in many aspects of project management, including planning, tracking, reporting, documentation, communication, and issue resolution under guidance.  Generally works on simple to moderate complexity projects.
  • Directs and monitors project activity for an assigned functional area, this would include working with key stakeholders to identify project goals, gain consensus on next steps, project schedule, key milestones, implementation, go to market processes and estimated project costs
  • Fosters cooperation and involvement across key stakeholders, and ensure alignment across senior leadership team of critical milestones and critical path to achieve. Interviews users to identify and analyse needs; develops a project plan and provides input to recommendations for request and/or problem resolution.
  • Identifies internal and/or external resources to ensure successful project completion.
  • Prepares project status reports; makes alterations in project plan as needed.
  • Assists with or prepares project implementation steps and documentation as appropriate; ensures a smooth implementation of project; resolves problems.
  • Participates in training users as applicable.
  • Participates in project evaluation against estimated plans and costs; provides continuing support and service as required.
  • Manages performance of project team, and evaluates overall performance. 
  • As each of these areas are newly formed this person will also have responsibility for forming the basis for their methodological approach to the work, deliverables, standards, meeting forums, key stakeholder identification and management, and continuous improvement activities.
  • 10+ years related project management experience with tools and techniques for planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling IT projects
  • Responsible for managing project activities for assigned business lines or for a major project that crosses several business lines. 
  • Ability to quickly understand complex matrix organisations and gain comprehensive knowledge of assigned business lines or functional areas and drivers of commercial success for the business.
  • C-Suite and other Executive level stakeholder engagement, including managing expectations and outcomes with them
  • Experience in managing complex projects (projects often require several months to be completed).
  • Experience working with senior business line management to formulate project scope
  • Proven ability to build lasting relationships, motivate teams, resolve conflicts and deliver against expectations.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge and working experience of project management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Fluent English is required;  knowledge of other European language will be an advantage
  • Good technical knowledge and skills in general, and proven working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and problem solving fast paced and in highly pressured situations
  • Excellent time management and personal organization skills
  • Be a team player in a global team, with the ability to act independently but collaboratively in virtual project teams
  • Highly organized, good at multi-tasking and good attention to detail.
