Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Research – Ireland is seeking high-calibre candidates with a proven research and innovation track record to advance the state of the art in the field of Future of Healthcare. The selected candidate will contribute to ground-breaking research projects focused on:
– Knowledge discovery/exploration and data mining for healthcare
– Patient-centric profiling and risk assessment for improved outcomes

In this role you will be joining a strong and motivated team to advance fundamental science and publish in top-tier journals and conferences, while helping to shape new business offerings in cutting-edge scientific and technical areas. The team is leading/being part of high-value projects in collaboration with Business Units, IBM Research Labs and academic partners. You will be working in a stimulating environment leveraging cross-disciplinary expertise in science and technology to improve health outcomes and transform the health ecosystem. The selected candidate is expected to grow their eminence in their field through publications at AI and Medical Informatics top venues and top journals (for example AMIA, MedInfo, AAAI, JMIR, JAMIA, IJMI…)

· A PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Health Informatics or a related discipline
· Evidence of applying fundamental statistics and AI algorithms in the field of healthcare
· An outstanding publication record at top-tier AI, Healthcare or Medical Informatics conferences/journals
· Demonstrated ability to tackle complex problems derived from real-world healthcare usecases and design, build and validate effective solutions
· Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary team to tackle complex scientific and technical challenges.
· Strong communications and presentation skills
· Strong Python skills and experience with ML/DL frameworks 

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
· 1-2 years postdoc experience
· Experience with EHRs, risk stratification and assessment, and decision support for healthcare.
