Project Manager

The ideal candidate will :

  • Take accountability for the successful delivery of a project or project(s), creating project plans, ensuring clear scope definition, engaging the necessary stakeholders, forming and leading project teams as required.
  • Ensuring an appropriate project management framework is in place, incorporating effective Gateway Review Process
  • Mobilise the Project establishing clarity and approvals on purpose, scope structure and delivery approach:
  • Oversee the preparation of the project brief, initiation documents and business case among other documents
  • Appraising business case options and submitting for approval
  • Securing resources and expertise from the client organisation as require including co-ordinating and directing end user input
  • Manage project progress and status to ensure that projects are delivered within agreed scope, quality, time and budget parameters.
  • Manage issue and risk logs, detailed plans and milestone trackers, decision logs and all other critical project management artefacts
  • Prepare monthly corporate project status reports setting out project progress vs plan, key risks, items for escalation, time and cost projections and benefit updates.
  • Manage project change control and maintain change control records and justifications.
  • Ensure clear roles and responsibilities and criteria are defined for project decision making and escalation processes. Ensure timely and effective escalation at board level.
  • Adhere to industry best practices for project management office (PMO) structures, methodologies and project governance models within the business –including the implementation of stage gates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Experience working with Data Strategies and or Data Architecture.

Experience required:

  • Typically 10 years’ experience in the area of Project management and delivery of IT solutions preferably in the Public Sector
  • Experience in Project management in a mature organisation is essential
  • Demonstrable experience of managing multi-disciplinary, cross functional teams (IT and business professionals and contractors) to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.
  • Proven track record in successful project delivery on time and to budget within a diverse global organisation.
  • Excellent Stakeholder Management and communication skills to build impact and influence.
  • Experience of vendor management of major software vendors and system integrators.
  • Proven experience of working successfully under pressure, managing complex projects, managing ambiguity and creating clarity.
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Teamwork, collaboration and the ability to build effective partnerships with both business and IT stakeholders at all levels of an organisation is an essential requirement of this role
