Product Designer

The mission if you choose to accept it

You walk into your favourite restaurant. Your favourite waiter welcomes you at the door and brings you to your favourite table. You ask the waiter what the specials are today and because they know you, they know exactly what to recommend. This is why you love this place. The food is fantastic, the service is top class and it all makes for a delightful experience.

This is what we aspire to at Nory. We are a hospitality SaaS business founded by hospitality professionals. Delighting our customers is what makes us jump out of bed every day.

Your profile

Are you the type of person who wants to influence the journey of our product and company, and help us grow to global scale? If so, you’ll do great and have a fun time as a Product Designer within Nory’s growing team.

Product Designers at Nory never have to ask for a seat at the table, or justify the value of good design. They’re expected to use curiosity and empathy to deepen their understanding of our industry and the problems hospitality professionals grapple with every day – and then help us solve those problems with good design.

This role will suit a Product Designer who strives to ensure we always solve the right problems and understands that Nory user and customer experience stretches far beyond the interaction design of our products.
You’ll be speaking to users, presenting and debating design with your cross-functional peers and we will expect you to be comfortable doing that.

Why us?

We're a small team with a lot of things to learn and do. We're building a company, a culture and a product with global ambition. Culture fit is really important to us here at Nory, and teamwork is the name of the game so we are looking for someone who shares our values.
We're big on research and communication, and we will expect the same from you. You'll do great if you think customer-first and are willing to learn about the industry we operate in. You'll speak with customers, build a shared understanding of the problems at hand and, perhaps even identify some unmet needs that deserve to be explored further. Why? Because it takes a variety of skill sets and experiences to build a world-class product and team.

What will you be responsible for:

  • Working through customer problems from the very beginning. This isn’t a job where designers receive requirements, then knock out UI prototypes and move on to the next thing.
  • Acting as a leader on your team. At Nory, designers don’t “hand over” work to be built and launched. Instead, the team collaborates and iterates towards success.
  • Deepening our understanding of our users and customers, and the distinction between the two. This how we know what delights the people who pay for and use our product.
  • Ensuring that what you’ve designed is built to the highest standard. We ship software, not Figma files.
  • Clear and effective communication. We’re a remote company with a team spread across multiple time zones, which makes sharing context is especially important

The person that will excel in this role will...

  • Understand that everyone’s a designer and our role is to facilitate user- and customer-centric decision making
  • Think of shipping a solution as the beginning of the journey, not the end
  • Treat feedback as a gift, not a curse
  • Be disciplined in execution and communication
  • Have an expert understanding of the foundations of digital product design, from problem solving to fine UI details
  • Have helped shipped digital products in the past – and enjoyed it!

We like to think we’re well taken care of. Here's what's on offer on top of our competitive salary:

  • Stock Options
Own a part of what you help build, and share in the success.
  • Flexible working culture
We’re not going to tell you what time to start or finish your work. Or where to do it from. You know best.
  • Home office setup
Because nobody wants their equipment to stop them from doing the work of their lives
  • 25 days holidays per year
    We work hard, chill harder.
  • Annual personal development budget – and a free Kindle loaded with books!
There’s just so much to learn..!
  • Pension and private health insurance
It’s really simple – your well-being is important to us.
  • Regular workshops, presentations and learning sessions
From interview techniques, effective project management to giving actionable feedback and slicing engineering work, our amazing team is always up for sharing what they know. We invite other experts, too.
  • Regular events and team get-togethers
    Remote never stopped anyone here!
