We have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to take up the role of Networks Manager to lead the design of a secure, reliable and economic transmission network in Ireland and Northern Ireland.   

The appointee will be responsible for leading the strategic design of the future transmission network across EirGrid and SONI.  The Networks Manager will be responsible for designing a transmission network which makes the grid stronger and more flexible, uses innovative solutions and proven technologies, minimises the addition of new infrastructure and maintains the reliability of the electricity system.

Successful delivery of this role is fundamental to the company’s strategic goal to lead the islands electricity sector on sustainability and decarbonisation. The role holder will set out the future of the transmission network (widely acknowledged as the key challenge to delivery of 2030 government renewable ambitions) and will ensure that engagement with all strata’s of society (e.g. landowners, community groups, policy makers, regulators, asset owners) is appropriately reflected.

You will be responsible for leading the strategic design of the transmission network in Ireland and Northern Ireland, ensuring the development of a secure, reliable and economic power system. You will programme manage a portfolio of projects, ensuring that appropriate project controls are in place within the team having regard to budgets, schedule, quality, risk and activity monitoring. 

You will act as a representative for senior internal and external engagements, e.g. regulators, government departments and act as the point of contact for industry partners, leading strategic, change related projects across the company– for example development of credible power system roadmaps out to 2030, 2040 and 2050, envisioning the future of renewables in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

  • An engineering degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years relevant experience with a holistic understanding of the power industry. 
  • Extensive experience of managing a portfolio of strategic, power system analysis projects and proven experience managing a team.
  • Exceptional communicator, able to articulate technical concepts and analysis to non-technical audiences and senior business leaders with a track record of conceiving and introducing innovative ideas, solutions or new ways of doing things to solve business problems, collaborating with business experts along the way.
