IT-ETA Lead QA Engineer

The IT Enterprise Technology & Applications team at Cloudera is responsible for building, managing, and implementing the applications and integrations used by Cloudera and our customers.

In the Lead QA Engineer role you will be responsible for managing an outsourced QA team while interacting internally with a geographically dispersed team of business owners, engineers, product managers, and project managers to ensure the highest quality is achieved in our deliveries. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with product and application owners to ensure accurate and complete test coverage.
  • Manage a third party team of QA engineers to tackle projects as required.
  • Manage the creation of detailed, reusable manual and automated test plans and test cases.
  • Identify defects in new and existing software and integrations; thoroughly document defects to maximize ease of resolution.
  • Proactively raise critical defects ensuring blockers are escalated appropriately
  • Participate in bug triage meetings and help manage bug queues for multiple projects.
  • Perform ad-hoc testing of software releases
  • Regularly engage in remote collaboration and communication
  • Minimum five years of proven experience working in a fast-paced organization
  • Solid knowledge of at least one programming language (Java or Python are ideal)
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle and system implementation approaches.
  • Minimum two years experience developing and managing automated testing

  • Fluent or near fluent in English

Pluses:

  • BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Experience as a QA engineer for software products
  • Familiarity with waterfall & agile frameworks and regression testing 
  • Experience with application & infrastructure performance, security, and/or stress testing
  • Experience with business process and application knowledge across CRM, ERP, Customer Service and/or Marketing domains.
