Job in a nutshell
Reporting into the Data Platform Manager in Three’s IT & Networks department, the role holder will be responsible for building new ETL jobs and reviewing and tuning existing ETL jobs. They will help build out and support a range of systems currently in place and help grow the big data platform for Three.

They will create and support ETL processes and reports, investigate and fix issues with data feeds, data models (tables and views) reports and analysis that give actionable insight and add value to our business.

They will guide and support the information needs of our stakeholders. Create and support automated information models and reports.  Design and build data feeds, data models (tables and views) reports and analysis that give actionable insight and add value to our business.

What else it involves

• Review existing ETL jobs and performance tune.
•  Initial investigation and fix implementation for job failures with support from developer.
• Initial investigation and fix implementation for data issues.
• Oversight of all the jobs loading and extracting from Teradata.
• Maximising the support model with Operations’.
• Development of enhanced documentation to minimise issue that require Data Platform
  intervention.
• Oversight of the process for deploying new code and ETL jobs.
• Review and approve production changes.
• Support and provide expert advice to Data Management teams and broader business.
• Police standards.
• ETL, Data Object design, Reporting Model & Report Design and Development.
•  Design and develop new data feeds, tables and views, reports and other outputs.
•  Impact assessment and design specification of new requirements or changes to systems as required
• Challenge requirements to ensure purpose and value of data is clear.
• Co-ordinate efforts with external parties and internal stakeholders to manage the impact of changes and source issues on our outputs.
•  Source data and carry out ETL and Data Object Design and Development.
•  Development of reports and other outputs.
• Maintain other systems managed by the Data Platform team.
• Collaborate with business owners, technology leads and Data Management colleagues to establish the best design, data model and report model to empower business opportunities.
•  Deliver actionable information from source data

• Advanced knowledge of SQL preferably in Teradata, ETL tool (Datastage current tool) and reporting tool experience (Cognos most relevant).

• Knowledge and experience working in Unix
• Knowledge and experience in a Hadoop environment an advantage
• Ability to communicate outputs and to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Excellent knowledge of database, reporting and ETL systems, as well as commercial and business process understanding
• Knowledge of Telco business and systems an advantage
