Credit Risk Manager - Elavon

This role is a 12 month fixed term maternity cover contract

The Credit Approval Manager leads a team of Credit Analysts in the review and approval of EFS’ largest and most complex credit exposures to enable new and existing business to operate within credit risk appetite.

The role holder is also responsible for the management of the suite of Elavon Financial Services’ (EFS) credit risk policies including maintenance, review, and oversight of implementation.

This position reports directly to the Head of Credit but also works closely with peers to holistically support the wider credit risk management programme.

 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Senior credit approver for new and existing large customers and responsible for ensuring all credit applications are presented in line with credit policy/risk appetite.
  • Manages the development and maintenance of credit risk policies in EFS including the completion of the annual review, engagement with relevant stakeholders, and present policy proposals to senior management/Committees.
  • Oversight of the delegation of, and adherence to, credit approval authorities across EFS. 
  • Leads the design, implementation, and execution of the Credit Quality Review programme and presents findings to senior management fora.
  • Supports the operation of the EFS Credit Committee including preparing Committee papers, minute taking, and provision of support on any other matters as required.
  • Responsible for acting as Credit Risk Specialist providing direction to the EFS business lines regarding regulatory/industry change and business change initiatives, with an emphasis on the impact and application of credit risk management requirements.
  • Participation in the wider enterprise preparation of regulatory documents and risk strategy e.g. Strategic Plan, Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process, Recovery Plans etc.
  • Oversight, analysis and management of EFS credit risk, including core business line portfolio, concentration, country and financial institution credit risk.
  • Fosters effective working relationships with other credit, risk and business line functions, in particular the 1st line of defense risk teams.
  • Manages and leads a small team of Credit Analysts including staffing, performance management, prioritizing, guidance and training.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business/accounting discipline or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 -7 years’ experience working in a credit or risk or both.
  • Experience performing credit assessments and/or performing quality assurance testing of credit products and processes.
  • 2 direct reports with this position.
  • Quite a broad role in our 2nd line of defense

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent analytical, risk analysis and business writing skills.
  • Knowledge of credit policy development, credit analysis and risk philosophy.
  • Strong understanding of European banking regulation.
  • Proven self-starter and team player with strong management, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint & Power BI.
