Associate Director-Automation Lead & Product Owner

About the role:

The Optum Ireland Automation Centre of Excellence supports the Payment Integrity organization through the delivery of automation solutions, using existing, new, and emerging technologies to enhance savings, improve productivity and quality and reduce cost.

The appropriate candidate will act as Associate Director (Automation Lead & Product Owner) on the Non-Clinical product team and will be accountable for maximizing the value our automation solutions deliver for our customers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide a strategic vision to the team that describes where the non-clinical products are heading.
  • Communicate business goals of the non-clinical products, in line with the business direction and in combination with the Automation requirements of Ops & change.
  • Prioritize all work based on all inputs and business partnership.
  • Evaluate the product’s progress at each iteration.
  • Proactively work on the product backlog which contains new ideas, process updates, change requests and maintenance work
  • Provide direction to the Automation Scrum Teams and make prioritization calls.
  • Acts as the primary liaison with the business and proactively anticipate business needs.
  • Working with the business and technology teams to support definition of the product roadmap
  • Responsible for non-clinical portfolio reporting within PI / ART / OGA etc.
  • Engage with Leadership in the different value streams within the organization to understand the business needs and challenges, educate on the automation teams’ capabilities and technologies available
  • Collaborate with other teams to provide a cross functional approach to the business transformation agenda’s at both a value stream and Payment Integrity level
  • Maintain an understanding of emerging technologies, research and thought leadership and contribute to ensuring best in class practice within the automation team
  • Product Owner qualification and/or practical working experience in a Product Owner capacity
  • Proven track record in developing strategic plans and delivering high value automation solutions
  • Experience working within an DevOps / Agile Framework (Scrum, LeSS, SAFe, etc.)
  • Experience of implementing software or business transformation projects from ideation / requirements through to successful delivery
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to peers and senior management
  • Demonstrable track record of effective client and stakeholder communication and management
  • Displays an innovative mindset which contributes, promotes, and adopts new ideas and approaches

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the US Health Insurance Industry: Claim Adjudication, Payments and Eligibility
  • Prior experience with RPA end to end delivery with a market leading RPA platforms: Automation Anywhere, BluePrism and/or UIPath
  • Lean process improvement or six sigma qualifications / experience
  • Business Analysis experience
  • Experienced in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including Agile methodologies
