What we are looking for: 

Gartner is looking for an analyst to provide research and advisory to global clients in Higher Education and beyond. You are likely to have experience as a Senior IT Executive, CTO or CIO working with senior-most institution leadership.  Your experience will include the planning and responsibility for major technology initiatives in higher education.  You also have a strong sense of business challenges facing higher education today.

  • University IT strategic planning and governance.
  • Emerging technologies most impactful to higher education futures.
  • Digital transformation opportunities and maturity in higher education.
  • Best practices to deploy and support technologies to further the mission of teaching and/or research, and/or administration of the academy

You will work with a collaborative team of highly experienced analysts and advisors to build authoritative research and advice that directly addresses the priorities and challenges of clients aligned to the Higher Education sector including institutions of higher learning, technology providers, consultants, and investors.

This includes:

  • Serving as an authority on higher education technology optimization and modernization  in Higher Education,
  • Creating both provocative and pragmatic  research and advice on best and emerging practices for CIO and IT leaders to support the digital transformation of their institution.  .
  • Supporting our sales and client service teams in delivering insight to clients and prospects.
  • Presenting on higher education technology research and related thought leadership in one-to-one and one-to-many forums, including client presentations and Gartner events
  • Developing predictions and scenarios about the future of higher education which emphasize the specific client actions relative to technology that will predispose success in these futures.
  • 10+ years of experience in a technology related role.
  • Subject matter expertise in higher education IT, with the ability to demonstrate understanding of the business applications and opportunities in that market.
  • Knowledge of the global landscape, and the interplay between education technology incumbents, emerging providers, disruptors and outsourcers.
  • Knowledge of higher education IT strategy, and how best to align with institutional strategy.
  • Broad understanding of new business and revenue models emerging in higher education globally.
  • Strong ability to identify and articulate the importance of emerging business and technology trends in the education sector. Able to help clients determine if, when, and how to adopt.
  • Have knowledge of and insight into emerging technologies in higher education such as AI, RPA, and analytics.
  • Able to advise clients on use-cases, market offerings, implementation considerations and other relevant actions that will predispose success.
  • Exceptional ability to transform complex concepts into digestible and actionable frameworks which propel client understanding and help the CIO build stakeholder collaboration.
  • Specific knowledge of higher education research management solutions, faculty information systems, and classroom technology is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a strong understanding of the business and financial context of higher education.
  • Exceptional communication skills. Evidence of being able to provide credibile, confident and trusted advice to senior higher education leaders.
