Senior Data Analyst

As a Senior Data Analyst within our Total Cost of Care team, you will join our existing Formulary Solutions function with expanded scope.  This new sub-team is responsible for the analytics and performance monitoring of formulary solutions, which includes formulary products, drug exclusion lists, utilisation management, benefit design, critical drug affordability and member disruption.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and be responsible for innovative analytic solutions around performance monitoring of formulary solutions covering formulary products, drug exclusion lists, utiliation management, critical drug affordability, benefit design and member disruption
  • Work as part of a high functioning team with a flat hierarchy to rapidly develop new insights and iterate upon those insights to drive business decisions
  • Anticipate issues and proactively develop solutions to address them
  • Research, interpret, and analyse diverse and complex data
  • Deliver, enhance, and maintain robust and scalable analytic solutions in an automation ready state
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other Optum teams and individuals across geographies.
  • Efficiently deliver on ad-hoc analysis requests from a wide range of stakeholders
  • Participate in the development of analytic and business strategy for the team
  • Collaborate with lines of business to understand their analytic needs, contribute to shaping business solutions and communicate results of analytics
  • Provide status updates with senior leadership and stakeholders as needed
  • Strong experience in SQL and SAS for data manipulation / analysis of large volumes of data from disparate data sources with the ability to error proof the output of analyses
  • Quantitative mindset and ability to understand complex processes
  • Demonstrated ability to own and deliver projects with strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience building analytic solutions with the mindset for repeatability and scalability
  • Ability to visualise, interpret and efficiently communicate data insights using Tableau / Power BI / other visualisation tool

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in discipline with strong analytical focus (analytics, mathematics, statistics, engineering etc.)
  • Significant experience in delivering predictive and/or prescriptive analytics, including providing actionable insights and recommendations.   This may include designing and implementing analytics projects using R / Python in an industry setting that yield real business value
  • Experience in creating rapid prototypes (ETL, Analytics logic and visualisations)
  • Aptitude to adapt to new technologies
  • Experience with healthcare data
