Research Scientist – R&D for HybridCloud

Your Role and Responsibilities
“As member of a leading research organization, the successful candidate will be expected to actively engage with global IBM Research Labs, IBM Business Units and scientific/academic partners in order to:
1. Devise innovative solutions and evaluate them through the design and creation of system prototypes
2. Create and execute R&D plans that have the potential to significantly advance existing products or lead to the creation of innovative approaches targeting market disruption
3. Develop and maintain a deep technical understanding of state of the art technologies in hybrid-cloud
4. Protect generated IP through patenting and other activities
5 .Communicate the outcome and impact of your work, internally and externally, e.g. through demos, opensource community engagement, participation in industry conference and workgroups, and publications in top-tier scientific conferences and journals.”

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Ability to identify fundamental problems from real-world cloud use-cases and to design, build and validate successful cloud-focused solutions.
Ability to demonstrate and evalute systems/software via experimental method, particularly through hands-on creation of prototypes. For example configuring large-scale server/networking/storage infrastructures; deploying research prototypes within production-grade HPC/Cloud infrastructures; deep contribution or ownership of an opensource cloud middleware framework.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within local team
Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Strong academic record with publications in top peer-reviewed scientific conferences and journals or strong leadership track-record in opens source communities Track record in forming collaborative teams to tackle important problems which produce high impact solutions
Ability to work successfully across multi-dicisplinary world-wide teams
Demonstrated ability to create and drive long running projects e.g. research programs, open-source projects, with proven impact.
