We’re looking for a Privacy Counsel based in Dublin to work on our dynamic and growing Global Privacy and Data Protection team. As our first EU-based attorney, you’ll advise on our compliance with GDPR and local data protection laws, monitor our adherence to GDPR standards, and act as a point of contact with EU-based internal clients, partners, and data subjects. Since Pinterest Legal is based in the US, you must be willing to occasionally accommodate California-friendly meeting times and travel to the US at least once a quarter.
What you’ll do:
- Serve as Pinterest’s EU data protection law expert, including by:
- Counseling other members of the Privacy and Legal teams regarding EU data protection law
- Monitoring ongoing developments in legislation, case law, and regulatory guidance
- Serving as legal point of contact for Privacy-led projects driven by EU data protection law, including data subject rights management, records of processing, and impact assessments
- Assisting in negotiations with EU advertisers, vendors, and partners regarding data protection matters
- Assessing with the management of incident response and any notification obligations under EU law
- Assist with trainings of internal clients regarding data protection issues and compliance measures
- A collaborative, pragmatic and business-focused attorney to serve as our first counsel in the EU, someone who is able to work autonomously from others lawyers and is eager to build relationships with EU-based internal clients
- At least 5 years of legal experience representing consumer internet businesses, including at least 1 year in-house
- Several years’ experience counseling on EU data protection in the areas of consumer internet and digital advertising, including clients in both product/technical and business-focused roles
- Qualified to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction
- Demonstrated project management experience
