Principal Business Analyst

About the Role

The Principal Business Analyst is a hybrid role that combines technical expertise, project management and creative problem solving all in one! This role will assist large cross-functional project initiatives for FPOP and support the organization’s growth by collaborating with our business partners. This is an exciting role that provides individuals an opportunity to gain technical expertise by providing hands on help and drive engagement within the teams.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Build strong working relationships with FPOP teams and cross-functional business partners to drive alignment and key project objectives
  • Hold internal scrum meetings with functional leads to ensure project details are passed on to FPO partners
  • Assist the project manager in creating project plans and presentations
  • Work closely with leadership to document impact and proactively plan for any risks and resourcing limitations
  • Own and lead M&A integration for functional area (kick-off workstream, define scope, secure resources, update M&A playbook)
  • Facilitate discovery and develop end to end business requirements for assigned projects
  • Act as a liaison between functional, technical, and management to ensure understanding and alignment with regards to requirements, testing, and project sign-off
  • Build and maintain test scripts for the relevant functional areas
  • Test bug fixes and new functionality; partner with relevant functional team to acquire confirmation of acceptance
  • Coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope. Set timelines, assign responsibilities and supervise and summarize progress of project
  • Work with the relevant departments to resolve all issues that could impact project objectives
  • Anticipate and raise issues with projects to management and project owners. Build a proposal to minimize risks and come up with problem resolution
  • Be a creative problem solver and provide support in times of stress
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in a finance related function
  • Experience in Workday systems e.g., Finance, Payroll, HCM etc.
  • Functional knowledge or experience in 2 or more of the following areas: Payroll, General Ledger, Stock Admin, Benefits, Compensation, Absence, Timekeeping
  • Bachelor’s degree

Other Qualifications:

  • Professional user of Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience in JIRA
  • A strong presenter with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-pace, collaborative environment
  • Demonstrates initiative, flexibility and follow-through
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills
