Overview

This role is within the Workforce Analytics & Innovation team, which has the responsibility to leverage internal and external insights to develop, support and/or execute initiatives that enable Mastercard’s people to power mastercard’s strategic priorities and drive innovation within People & Capability (P&C).

We are looking for a data scientist who does not only have a passion for data science, but also strongly wants to see the impact of their work in the business. As a data scientist, you’ll be on the leading edge of applying analytics to problems within P&C, combining advanced analytics, machine learning and social science to advance the business with insights about our most important assets: our people and culture.

Role

  • As a Data Scientist on the team, your main responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Leverage advanced analytical techniques such as natural language processing, machine learning, organisational network analysis and more — to reveal the insights hidden within structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Develop algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate, and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources.
  • Develop end-to-end scalable data science solutions and insights to business problems.
  • Ability to develop a nuanced business understanding, testable hypotheses, and meaningful findings from data – able to find the story in the data.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members to identify and execute opportunities for advanced analytical projects within HR (including strategic workforce planning, skills strategy, employee experience).
  • Staying on top of current trends/research in data science research and technology.
  • Demonstrates exceptional judgment and discretion when dealing with highly sensitive people data.
  • You are able to use scripting languages like Python, R and SQL to work efficiently at scale with structure and unstructured data sets.
  • You are able to develop end-to-end analytical solutions, from ETL to model building, and deployment to performance monitoring.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge and experience of deriving insights from data with Python or R
  •  Experience in applying statistical and machine learning models to a variety of problems.
  •  Working knowledge of applying Python frameworks, libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, Numpy, Scipy, Pandas) and NLP libraries such as Spacy, NLTK and Gensim.
  •  Ability to employ data extraction techniques to unstructured noisy data.
