Lead Data Engineer - Tech Platform

We crave data driven decisions and we are creating a new Data Engineering team to uncover how engineering systems behave in Personio. We are looking for a Lead Engineer to set the foundations for this team and shape the data and engineering culture for our technology platform. You will work in an effective, autonomous enablement team, where you will have the freedom to define and build a high-impact driven environment. You will be responsible for building data pipelines, tools, libraries and microservices which enable the discovery, visualization, and analysis of data to fuel a data driven organization:

  • This is a Software Engineer role with a focus on data acquisition from multiple sources and the reliability of the extracted data processes and techniques.
  • Architecting and creating data pipelines is a primary responsibility. You will  design, build and manage data pipelines which consist of a series of stages through which data flows.
  • You will 'own' your data sources and manage the connections and egress strategies from those sources.
  • You will pull data from uncommon and unconventional sources - log files, exported application data (e.g. Prometheus, GitLab), third party APIs as well as common sources such as Relational Databases.
  • You will use modern tools, techniques and architectures to automate the common, repeatable data preparation to minimize manual and error prone processes.
  • You will need strong stakeholder skills to work with varied partners. In particular, you will work in close relationships with other product engineering and business intelligence teams in refining their data requirements.

HOW WE WORK

  • We want to build a category leader for HR software in Europe. You should bring passion for making the lives of others (in our case: Employees and HR professionals) better
  • We are experiencing rapid growth and are “building our plane while flying it”. So bring your agile mindset to the table!
  • Embrace feedback - no one is perfect, neither are we. So let’s make this an opportunity to praise and learn from each other
  • Proactive problem solver. You are willing to leave code and engineering practices in a better shape than when you first encountered them
  • Let’s grow together - share your knowledge, we will share ours!
  • Humour. Have fun with us, learn with us from mistakes and bring your good vibes

  • At least 6 years professional software development experience, ideally with a focus on data management, data architecture, data integration, modelling, optimization, and data quality and other relevant data engineering tasks.
  • At least two years of experience working in a data engineering focused environment.
  • A passion for data as applied to engineering processes and curiosity on our mission of enabling better engineering using data collection and analytics from software development and software operations sources.
