Global Security Data Insights Analyst

The mission of the Global Security organization in HPE is to protect the company, from both physical & digital threats, with world-class, extensible security capabilities and advance HPE's business objectives by effectively managing risk. We do this by constantly monitoring, assessing, and responding to physical security, cybersecurity, and business continuity threats directed towards HPE, and by implementing mitigating controls.

The successful candidate will join HPE's Global Security Data Insights team. The Data Insights team forms part of our Security Fusion Center, which includes other functions like Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) Insights, Threat Insights, Cyber Defence Center (CDC), Advanced Threat / Forensics (ATF), and Cyber Intelligence.

The Data Insights team have designed, architected, and developed a world class, innovative, scalable “big-data” solution, that ingests disparate security information from global sources. The solution provides a platform to perform additional processing, including enhancement and aggregation. In partnership with internal customers, insights gleaned from the data are “operationalized”  into consumable use-cases.

In addition to basic use-cases to improve cyber hygiene, maturation of this platform will include the application of machine learning methods for higher-value insights, such as anomaly detection, and classification/clustering of anomalies and threats.  Tools used by the team include Vector, Kafka, Hazelcast, Grafana, Docker swarms and Vertica, with tools such as SciPy, ScikitLearn, Numpy and MatplotLib under review.

This role offers the right candidate a fantastic opportunity to be part of a progressive, talented global team, that contributes to timely and relevant decisions that drive business outcomes. Working with big data sets, you’ll have the opportunity to turn insights into assets, whilst developing machine learning capabilities in the dynamic and fast-paced world of cyber security.

Our Fusion culture also means that you will have opportunities to propose changes that will enable us to further secure HPE. We believe that some of the best ideas for next steps on protecting HPE come from people involved in Operations, be it processes and procedures, or new capabilities and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply critical thinking and data analytics/data science skillset to disparate data sets and indicators, to provide cyber security data insights.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop use-case driven, cyber security data insights.
  • Develop processes, programs, and solutions to operationalize these insights.
  • Provide support to internal partner teams, on the data insights technology stack.
  • Drive innovation and improvement by identifying opportunities in new technologies, capabilities, processes, and procedures.
