Functional Analyst – Mobile App team

A fulltime vacancy has arisen for the role of Functional Analyst – Mobile App team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing analysis, requirements and functional design for the development and enhancement Vhi’s mobile app systems and components, plus supporting the app as part of production support.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Work with Business Analysts and business stakeholders to facilitate the scoping of business change.  
  • Engage in the requirements gathering process, assist with identifying what stakeholder input is required and obtain formal agreement from stakeholders and recipients to the scope and requirements.
  • Prepare functional specification user stories for system enhancements, changes or new systems for Android and IOS using Agile tools and technology.
  • Prepare appropriate and comprehensive Acceptance Criteria for User Stories and support the test team in
  • Assist in the estimation and sizing of user stories.
  • Assist with the management of the backlog for the App team.
  • Updates functional model to implement applications in accordance with IT architecture and user needs.
  • Ensure that appropriate controls and functionality are built in to the design
  • Ensure that the application is correctly integrated within a complex environment and complies with user / customer needs.
  • Where required support and contribute to the use of prototypes to drive requirements validation
  • Review and assist in development of business requirements and technical specifications
  • Review and approve test plan and test cases for functional testing
  • Work with functional test team during test execution in analysing defects and assigning to relevant developer
  • Provision of instructions, help and advice to other team members to develop their abilities and business and functional knowledge
  • Work with the Project Manager to deliver planned project activities to agreed timelines
  • Assist the user community in the provision of transition support and change planning, and liaise with the project team.
  • 5 - 10 years functional analyst experience  covering the full software development lifecycle, including working with business users
  • Requirements modelling and need analysis techniques
  • User Story and Acceptance Criteria creation and sizing.
  • Knowledge of User Experience and User Interface tools and design principles
  • Experience in backlog management and backlog refinement.
  • Languages for formalising functional specification
  • Software developments methods and their rationale (e.g. prototyping, agile methods, reverse engineering, etc.)
  • Problem solving with proven track record of achievements and innovation
  • Ability to formulate solutions to business problems and make fast paced decisions.
  • Proven experience of working effectively with technical and business stakeholders
  • Target oriented with experience of delivering to strict milestones and/or service levels
  • Excellent people and relationship skills with ability to negotiate and influence business stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to assimilate from a variety of sources and understand the ‘big’ picture view as well as the lower level detail.
  • Is highly organised with the ability to prioritise and track multiple tasks to successful completion.
  • Experience in using computer packages for data analysis, user story creation, requirements tracking and process modelling
