Data Protection Analyst

The CTP will develop new insurance and healthcare products, services and ways of interfacing with our customers and this will include substantial digital and data changes across our business

We are currently looking to hire a Data Protection Analyst

The Data Protection Analyst should have expertise and experience in technical data frameworks ideally with a technical background and sound legal understanding of practical implementation of GDPR . This role will be embedded within CTP to ensure that we have high standards of compliance with the regulations, anticipate future requirements (e.g. e-privacy) and protect our customers’ rights to privacy.

The Role: 

The Data Protection Analyst should have expertise and experience in technical data frameworks ideally with a technical background and sound legal understanding of practical implementation of GDPR . This role will be embedded within CTP to ensure that we have high standards of compliance with the regulations, anticipate future requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively engage with all CTP teams to ensure that all ongoing change initiatives and technical implementations are informed by DP best practices and in line with Vhi Group DP policies and procedures.
  • Work with the CTP and Digital teams on conducting and documenting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) in line with group policies and assist DPO in assessment of high risk DPIAs. Ensure
  • Develop and maintain DP obligation registers and best practice for the new systems, products & processes.
  • Drive the development of DP frameworks and processes suited to Agile ways of working that are aligned to the DP policies and risk appetites of the organisation.
  • Work with product architecture, digital, data, and technical enablement teams to provide early guidance on potential risks & help shape creative solutions and options
  • Assist CTP team with investigation and provision of information to the DP Department in relation to any suspected personal data breaches
  • Champion data privacy with the development teams.
  • Provide DP training to CTP teams and update them on latest advice from EU and Irish supervisory authorities. Keep up to date with data protection related legislation

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Data Protection or similar legal role, or in a technical role with a strong focus on Data Protection.
  • Experience working in business change centres; using agile methods a distinct advantage and aware of emerging technologies in the digital space
  • Must have a third level qualification (minimum degree level) in a relevant business discipline; a legal qualification is desirable
  • Accredited data protection qualification required e.g. Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection, CIPP/E etc.
  • Excellent understanding of data protection as it pertains to computer systems, networks, enterprise architectures, databases as well as digital marketing and digital channels such as mobile and web and understanding of ad tech and tracking technologies.eg Google Analytics
