We are seeking a Data Analyst to join our Optum Payment Policy Analytics team. This team is responsible for data gathering, processing, and reporting Optum Payment Policy financial results. You will be responsible for querying various data sources, improving our analytics capabilities, developing automated analytic solutions to tell our story, and helping to support and drive data-driven decision-making that delivers value.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather data/reporting requirements
• Develop and maintain documentation that chronicles processes related to data activities and associated results
• Design, code and execute programs to extract, aggregate and manipulate claims data from various sources
• Develop new and maintain programs to analyse healthcare claims to support ad hoc data requests, including data processing and exploratory data analysis (EDA)
• Develop and support programs to run automated jobs to extract data, perform statistical calculations, and generate reports
• Communicate with various functional areas and translate analytic results in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing
• Ensure high quality delivery to the customers and participate in formal delivery to business customers
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, ideas and information relating to current data analysis technologies and techniques

• SQL experience, including experience with various database technologies (e.g. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2)
• Experience with automated ETLs (e.g. Alteryx, SSIS, Airflow etc)
• Experience with Data Visualization / Dashboard tools (e.g. Tableau or PowerBI)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely in writing and orally to individuals and groups, with the ability to tell stories and drive recommendations through data

Preferred Qualifications:

• Alteryx experience
• Programming experience in Python, R, MATLAB or similar
• Research skills including regression analysis and related statistical methods
• Tableau experience
• Excellent problem solving, data and analytical skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities
