BRM Content Moderation Policy Director

Job Description Summary:

As a PayPal Policy Director on the Brand Risk Management team, your goal is to ensure that activity within the PayPal system is compliant with PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy and help define and enforce PayPal’s Reputational Risk framework, as well as PayPal’s adherence to our Ethics and Compliance Standards, and obligations to the appropriate regulations, such as the Bank Secrecy and USA PATRIOT Acts, and the governing authorities. 

In this role, you will help develop  and have oversight of PayPal’s developing content moderation Program.  Partnering with teams from engineering (Platform), Investigations, Analytics and team members from all the PayPal’s ever-expanding products and services teams to develop strategies and policies around detecting concerning imagery and other user generated content on PayPal’s various products and services.  Additionally, you will be tasked with these same teams in assessing the reputational impact of Brand Risk Management initiatives and policy enforcement.  Lastly, you will participate in industry groups and assist in fostering partnerships with other companies in the Fintech community. You will prepare brief summaries of your findings, report findings to members of the senior leadership team, propose the appropriate mitigating action and help in defining PayPal’s risk appetite and approach to identifying user generated content.

As a Content Moderation Policy Director, it will be critical for you to stay current with public policy changes relating to user generated, seek ways to enhance current processes and controls, and always maintain utmost professionalism in your interaction with our customers and business partners.   You will be responsible for handling escalated matters from all areas within PayPal and perform thorough investigations, ultimately deciding whether the activity involved is worthy of further mitigating action or policy enhancements. 

 

Job Description:

As a BRM Policy Director, your responsibilities include:

  • Continually assess the changing reputational risks posed by external factors including regulatory, payment partners and evolving consumer/public sentiment.
  • Accurately and thoroughly conduct time sensitive complex analysis of content while creating coherent and concise narratives for executive level consultations. Additionally, conduct oral briefings to senior leadership.
  • Conduct complex and deep dive analyses of Content Moderation Risk types to develop typologies and methodology for potential BRM lead sources and investigator guidance.
  • Develop and maintain BRM and senior management escalations processes.
  • Work with Government Relations to keep current across relevant BRM regulations by reviewing regulatory bulletins from law makers and those issued within the payments and technology industry globally.
  • Participate in industry working groups.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Legal, Criminal Justice or a comparable field or equivalent work experience;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience conducting research and investigations related to Content Moderation/Trust and Safety, Anti-Money Laundering, Customer/Enhanced Due Diligence investigation or verifications;
  • Proven ability to analyze large amounts of data to report critical information;
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information accurately, clearly and quickly to all levels;
  • Ability to work efficiently with an attention to detail in investigations, analysis, and writing;
  • High level of professionalism, self-motivation and sense of urgency
