Role Purpose

Exciting opportunity to help shape Vodafone’s technical and business strategies. You will work with large, multi-dimensional datasets to uncover business insights and drive commercial impact. This role involves working with Vodafone’s Engineers, BI, Marketing, Network and Product teams to find the optimum solution to drive efficiency and solve business problems. 
 

Key Accountabilities

The Data Scientist:
Drives end-to-end Big Data modelling & in-depth profiling of customers to reduce churn and optimise customer experience and value.
Identifies opportunities to make a commercial difference and develops of analytics initiatives to meet business requirements
Translates complex datasets into strategic insights for the business and communicates simply to non-technical audiences, visualising results, to create understanding and solution buy-in
Develops end-to end pipelines to solve real business problems, taking account of user needs and technology and operational landscape 
Identifies new analytics trends and opportunities to drive the innovation agenda across business functions & Big Data Analytics community
Supports the prioritisation of both internal and external data assets and works with technology in setting key requirements for data sourcing 
Experience in data mining & deployment of models and algorithms into a commercial/consumer environment in order to analyse extremely large volumes of structured data
Ability to test hypotheses from raw data sets and draw meaningful conclusions
Deep and broad statistical modelling expertise in various domains

We Are Looking For You, If You Have

Essential
Master’s or Bachelor’s (or equivalent) in quantitative fields like Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or Engineering
At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Data Scientist (Designing and building machine learning models for production)
Experience with statistical software (e.g.R, Python) and database languages (e.g., SQL)
Experience in statistical packages and ML libraries (e.g. R, Python SciPy and NLTK, Spark MLlib, SAS)
Familiar with leading visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Qlikview) 
Comfortable communicating progress and outcomes to business stakeholders using relevant language
Excellent team collaboration skills
Curiosity to learn and self-driven.

Desirable
Experience in Big Data analytics & deployment of models and algorithms 
Knowledge of Big Data technology (e.g. Hadoop MR, interactive SQL on Hadoop, NoSQL, Spark, R, SAS, SciPy, Tableau, GIS)
Strong data storytelling and strategic thinking
