New York-based tech company NS1 is setting up a base in Cork in a bid to expand its global presence.
NS1 is building an engineering centre of excellence and said Ireland “stood out as an exceptional source of skilled, diverse and passionate talent”.
The company, which specialises in smart network control systems, is hiring at least 30 computer engineers from various backgrounds and levels of expertise at its new office.
David Coffey, chief product officer at NS1, said Cork was “top of the list” for him when the company was initially exploring locations for expansion.
“The type of talent I’ve seen in the Cork market aligns perfectly with our expansion strategy as we build products at a scale to meet global demand,” he said.
The expansion will help NS1 to scale its cloud-based Connect platform. As well as offering senior tech opportunities, the company said it will train emerging tech talent in the latest cloud technologies and advanced programming languages such as Go.
While NS1 is securing an office space in Cork city, the company also supports a hybrid working model, with remote work options available.
This project has been supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland. Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar, TD, said it’s great news that the company has chosen Cork as its location.
“This new facility will play a key role in the expansion of NS1’s global engineering presence and I wish the team all the best in this exciting new chapter,” he said.

Cork has seen several other jobs announcements in recent weeks.
At the end of March, Janssen Sciences announced plans to create 180 new jobs as part of a €150m expansion in Ringaskiddy, while US company Nasuni revealed plans for upto 55 new senior engineering roles in cork last week.
