Geneva-headquartered IT services and consulting company Pangea is set to expand its team from a new base in one of Donegal’s Gteic digital hubs.
Pangea helps tech companies scale into new markets. It has a global distributed workforce with offices in the UK, US and Europe and plans to move into Asia in the future.
The company’s Irish team will be based out of the Gteic@NaRosa digital hub in Dungloe, Co Donegal. It currently has a small number of staff there, but plans to triple its headcount over the next two years.
Pangea is currently recruiting for a financial controller and HR staff and is also looking to hire data and tech workers over the next 18 months. The company’s CEO, Marc Baumgartner, said these roles will be open to recruits in Donegal.
Baumgartner told SiliconRepublic.com that Pangea has been in talks with its network in Donegal to scope out the region’s tech talent.
He added that the company has built its tech platform with people from the UK and Poland, and is hoping to insource this into Donegal and leverage local tech expertise.
Pangea already has ties to the region as co-founder and COO Rita Boyle is originally from Donegal.
The company has had a presence in Ireland for several months now and its new base is fitting into its network of distributed teams. “We have offices in London, in Soho, for example, and our clients can’t tell if they’re working with our team in Soho or if they’re working with our team in Donegal,” Baumgartner said.
Gteic@NaRosa opened it's doors on 1 April. It is part of an expanding network digital hubs being developed by Údarás na Gaeltachta in Irish-speaking regions of the country.
The hubs offer broadband, conference rooms and hotdesking facilities to workers and businesses.
“People are really friendly, talented, professional. Everything has been 10 out of 10,” Baumgartner said of his company’s experience so far in the Gteic hub.
