The Core Database Performance team is responsible for Fueling customers' success by delivering high performance, high throughput database service and push the boundaries of scale while managing exponential growth in traffic and complexity. This team strives for innovating and automating troubleshooting techniques and interactive analytics, to enable tuning at scale, enhance proactive monitoring to prevent incidents, reduce cost to serve, feed improvements and enhancements back to build a more efficient, resilient and scalable platform.
What you’ll be doing…
You will be responsible for developing a team of Database Performance Engineers in EU region. In this position, you will guide exceptional Performance Engineers in the region to measure Salesforce’s cutting-edge database performance within rigid timeframes.
You will oversee the consolidation, analysis, and presentation of performance data in formal capacity planning/sizing guides containing formulas, scenarios, and best practices to the entire organization and will facilitate training to help ensure customer success.
You will also periodically participate in critical customer issues to help troubleshoot real-world performance problems in the product to further improve testing and measurement efforts.

Invest in continuous employee development of a highly technical team by mentoring and coaching engineers and technical leads in the team.
Recruit and attract top talent to the team
Define how the team evolves and interacts with the rest of engineering
Help educate the rest of the Engineering Organization about the performance consequences of their code
Drive technical investigations, prototypes and experiments (and guide and empower other engineers to do so)
Partner with product engineering teams to instrument metrics and build scalable systems
Participate in identifying opportunities and improving the processes and culture of the engineering organization in general
7+ year of engineering management experience
Technical skills and the ability to understand complex database architecture, design and pinpoint problem areas.
Possess the insight and forethought to direct the efforts to thoroughly uncover bottlenecks and scalability/stability problems before release.
Prior experience with performance engineering teams is a plus
Experience of working on at least one Relational Database ( e.g. Oracle , postgresql , mysql ..) and knowledge of internals and performance metrics of RDBMS.
Experience partnering with product engineering teams to instrument metrics and build scalable systems
Evaluate business goals from a capacity, reliability, and performance perspective, translating these into requirements and influence product roadmaps.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members.
