The Future Operations team within the Innovation and Planning function is responsible for delivering the existing operational change programme (DS3 Programme) which will close out over the coming months as we progress to operate the system at 75% System Non-Synchronous Penetration (SNSP) levels.  

The Future Operations team is also leading the programme for putting in place what is needed to operate the power system in 2030 and will develop the scenarios, options and optimum pathways to ensure that the operational ambition for the power system is realised.

 We now seek  an innovative, solution focussed, resilient and motivated individual to join our senior team and play a key role in the transition to a low carbon energy future.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of multi-year cross-functional programmes of work and lead key elements of strategic, large-scale change-related projects. You will work with the Head of Future Operations and other senior members of the Future Operations team for the strategic development of the section and wider Innovation and Planning function.

You will develop and drive forward innovative proposals and solutions to transform how we operate the power system of the future. You will ensure risks and issues are raised in a timely manner, and propose potential solutions. You will also mentor and develop junior members of the team.

  • You will have a university degree in engineering or other equivalent degree, with a minimum of 6 years' experience and knowledge of the power system and market. 
  • You will Strong analysis, judgement and problem-solving skills along with an ability to make decisions and recommendations in a changing and dynamic environment.
  • Most importantly, you will have excellent skills in communication and ability to articulate technical concepts and analysis to non-technical audiences and business leaders. 
  • You will have excellent organisational skills and strong track record of delivery. You will also have an ability to guide, persuade and influence others through developed skills of communication and diplomacy.
