We’re a client focused engineering business and an engineering background is key in this role. You’ll be an essential team member responsible for project management of large scale infrastructure projects on-time and within budget, respecting established governance and controls, facilitating the connection of new generation, demand and interconnection customers to the transmission system & facilitating the reinforcement of the existing transmission grid to ensure a secure, reliable, sustainable and economic power system into the future.  

You’ll also deliver on grid infrastructure projects, successfully working with stakeholders to meet their needs.  You will provide client engineering technical assurance for all new connections and plant commissioned onto the transmission grid and programme manage all capital works – covering multi-year outage coordination, governance, regulatory and financial reporting, risk and quality assurance.

We will look to you to liaise with the business as necessary to understand stakeholder needs; guide, persuade and influence others through developed skills of communication and diplomacy, prepare high quality, concise written and verbal reports for internal and external audiences.  You will work collaboratively with other teams to deliver on our role and strategy and continuously improve the way we work to make it more efficient, effective, transparent and easy to understand for non-technical audiences.  
 

  • You will have Engineering degree or equivalent, with proven experience in project managing large infrastructure projects, balancing a proficiency in project management with a developed understanding of power systems is key to delivery in this role. 
  • You will have the ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders and be able to analyse issues, exercising judgement to make decisions and drive delivery of large infrastructure projects. 
  • Knowledge of the industry, environment and context, experience working within a similar regulated utility environment and/or experience introducing new concepts, processes and ways of doing things would be beneficial. 
  • Most importantly, you’ll need to have the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, while also being able to define and guide own work under minimal supervision. 
  • You must have commercial awareness with the ability to make decisions and recommendations in all aspects of project implementation together with a full, clean drivers’ licence.
