R&D Software Engineer - Initial 10 Month contract with a view to extend.
About the role
We are looking for a Research Engineer to join us in Dublin. This is a great opportunity for a talented Research Engineer, who will work on Next Generation Cloud Core & Edge Cloud Systems focusing on Operations & Maintenance capabilities, collaborating with a team to define Next Generation of telecom cloud & edge in Beyond-5G domain. He/she will take Research & Development approach to solve telecom cloud core operation challenges, designing & developing prototypes to validate novel solutions going beyond the current state of the art. While doing so, he/she will get an excellent opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud/network technologies & define Next Gen Cloud Networks technologies that is applicable for 5.5G/6G & Autonomous Networks.
Qualified candidates should be able to handle multiple tasks in parallel and ensure those can be completed on time and in high quality.
Responsibilities
- Design cloud & network technologies based on novel system architectures & system modelling methods for monitoring & management in collaborations with the team
- With hands-on activities, develop & demonstrate prototypes to validate new concepts in Linux environments, also collaboratively integrating modules developed within the team
- Develop cloud system monitoring & management proof-of-concepts using Open Source 5G core technologies & cloud-native technologies
- As a team member, participate in the design and development of Next Generation Autonomous System for central & edge cloud using AI & cloud-native technologies.
- Sound programming skills in Java/Python/C and/or similar
- System design, analysis and architectural skills in distributed/cloud/telecom systems
- System Modelling knowledge is a plus
- Experience in relational databases & develop using Open Source technologies
- Strong experience in using Linux & developing in the Linux environment
- Good knowledge on K8S & Virtualization Technologies (OpenStack skill an added advantage)
- Experience in CNCF technologies, telemetry, metrics, traces & logs collection & processing
- Strong analytical, problem solution skills & ability to learn new technologies & tools fast
- Exposure to Cloud (or telecom) system Operations & Maintenance/Management is a great plus
- Experience (& interests) in innovation & pushing the boundaries of current state-of-the art
- Telecom/5G Core Network exposure is a plus but not essential
- Masters or Bachelors in a relevant field (such as Computer Science) with years of experience
