Job Technical Lead/ Manager

Product Owner

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Product Owner to join our client in Dublin on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an up-and-coming Product Owner to join our clients experienced and successful Product and Dev Teams based in Dublin. As Product Owner you will lead the following activities:

  • Articulate the Product Vision: The PO works with the Product Management team to understand the Product Visionand drive out a high-level Product Roadmap of work to achieve that Vision. They are then responsible for articulating and inspiring the Dev Teams to deliver that Roadmap and Vision.
  • Release planning:The PO is responsible for the feature/function capability of a release. They are expected to work with the Dev Teams to elaborate the high-level Product Roadmap into an estimated Product Backlog. The PO will then prioritize Backlog Artifacts (Stories, Tasks, Bugs) into ongoing Sprints and predict when various Roadmap items will be delivered.
  • Represent the Stakeholderin the Dev Team: The PO defines Stakeholder requirements based on the business value (the “what” and “why). This often means contacting Stakeholders directly, understanding their specific requirements and feeding this information to the Dev Teams through Refinement and Sprint Planning sessions to create a solution (the ‘How’) that satisfies all stakeholders needs
  • Sprint Exit Demos: The PO mustguarantee an effective feedback loop both from Stakeholders into the Dev team and vice versa. This is done during a Sprint Exit Demos where developed features are shown to stakeholders and the goals for the upcoming Sprint(s) are discussed
  • Definition of Done:The PO is expected to validate the delivery of acceptance criteria, functional and non-functional requirements as well as adherence to the development and quality processes via the “definition of done” for each Sprint.
  • Technically minded – our customers are technical users and therefore the requirements are often in relation to security, transport and API technologies and protocols. Having a conceptual understanding and/or experience in these areas is important. Previous development experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experienced in Agile– We develop using the Scrum methodology delivering new features in 2 week intervals. Experience in this type of environment would be key.
  • A great communicator– POs work with a broad spectrum of stakeholders (R&D Managers, Product Managers, Architects, Customer Champions, Customers, Sales teams and Development teams). They need to be able to tailor the description of problems and their solutions to these different audiences to ensure effective communication
  • A strategic thinker– PO’s prioritize items in the Product Backlog to best achieve deadlines (product features, beta start dates, PoCs), missions’ goals (on-time, quality release) while optimizing the value of the work the Dev Team performs.
  • A decision maker– PO’s need to recognizing when work on features will stop giving a ‘return on investment’ and make the decision to move onto another more valuable piece of work.
