Product Manager IoT – Cloud-based Management

What You'll Do

The world is becoming ever more connected and the Internet is extending to the Internet of Things (IoT).  This is driving an explosion in the number of connected devices as well as the volume of data. Cisco's industry-leading, cloud-based IoT platform enables companies of all sizes to rapidly and cost-effectively deploy, monitor and gain insights for industrial IoT services on a global scale. We are building an extraordinary team to develop this next-generation cloud-based IoT Software and Hardware Platform. As part of this we have an excellent opportunity for an IoT Product Manager for our cloud-based IoT Operations Dashboard software-as-a-service product, who also has an understanding of networking, and especially of industrial cellular routing.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Define the product feature set and roadmap by analyzing customer needs and pain points, understanding market trends, and bringing a unique value proposition to the product
  • Directly engage with and support lead customers and be the Voice of the Customer to the broader team.  Clearly communicate customer needs and priorities as reflected in the intersection with the product direction and priorities
  • Work across the team to guide the product direction while managing customer priorities and trade-offs
  • Develop and document detailed and clear business and technical requirements, and work with User Experience (UX), technical marketing and engineering architects and product owners to elaborate and refine those requirements for implementation
  • Guide product development throughout the build/launch process to ensure delivery of the right product features and UX to market, within the agreed timescales
  • Develop clear product positioning and messaging that differentiates our products in the market, defining the key buyers and influencers, and assisting Marketing to develop compelling messaging
  • Drive product innovation based on customer needs and opportunities arising from architectural capabilities of the product and the broader Cisco portfolio
  • Track product sales, revenue, new business and profitability to achieve target sales volumes and profit margins
  • Develop and manage the product roadmap and lifecycle from conception, planning, launch, sales growth to end of life.
  • Lead Go-to-Market teams that develop high impact, fully integrated sales and marketing tactics that deliver growth, market leadership, and awareness.
  • Establish pricing strategy and recommendations to meet revenue and profitability goals, including base product pricing, option bundling & pricing, and channel-based pricing strategies, and track competitive pricing of products in the marketplace
  • Develop timely business, economic, market and competitive intelligence analysis to support strategic planning initiatives, business prioritization and target new markets
  • Contribute to the development of the product vision, strategy and target markets in line with customer needs, market trends, the Cisco IoT strategy and new revenue opportunities.
  • 5-8 years of overall work experience with a strong background in systems engineering, product development and/or product management for networking equipment, network management systems, and/or related software
  • 2+ years of Product Management experience in software, network management, IoT or M2M environments
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the proven ability to articulate complex topics simply and clearly
  • Deep appreciation for the Industrial and IoT Customer mindset and a confirmed ability to think Customer-first with a successful track record in building solutions to meet Customer needs
  • Experience in network deployment, operations processes and tools (Network Management systems, Prime Infrastructure, SDWAN, etc.) and familiarity with networking in Industrial and Operational Technology (OT) settings such as roadways, mass transit, manufacturing, retail, utilities, or machine builders
  • Strong understanding of modern SaaS software development, incl. methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, CI/CD,  and an understanding of SaaS infrastructure services such as RBAC, IAM, UI frameworks, and APIs and micro-services.
  • Experience with developing and documenting detailed product requirements using tools such as Jira or Rally, and working closely and collaboratively with engineering product owners (POs) to groom those requirements
  • Passion for developing excellent end-to-end User Experiences (UX), and a proven ability to work effectively with and guide UX teams
  • Experience of developing business cases, Return on Investment (RoI) analysis and product pricing proposals and analysis
  • Demonstrated project leadership including successfully defining and launching product innovations
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Educational Qualifications: BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Management or Masters Business Administration (MBA)
