IT Support Engineer

ITContracting are currently seeking applicants on behalf of our public-sector client for an IT Support Engineer. This is a long-term daily-rate contract position based onsite with our client in Dublin City Centre.

Our client is looking for a dedicated, self-motivated, passionate IT Support Engineer with minimum 4 years practical experience supporting Microsoft Windows technologies. The successful candidate will join our client’s existing ICT Department and will be responsible for supporting, maintaining and improving the IT infrastructure services to the organisation’s internal end users.

The main function of the role is to provide general level 1 and 2 technical support to end users via remote support tools and in-person troubleshooting sessions, acting as the subject matter expert and main point of contact for all technical support issues.

This requirement is for an onsite resource, however while normal working conditions are not currently in operation as a result of Covid-19, the successful candidate will be required to provide some services remotely for as long as Covid-19 restrictions are in place. Our client expects the onsite requirement to be 2 to 3 days a week from the start of this contract role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide level 1 and 2 ICT support in a predominately Microsoft environment (e.g. Windows Server, Windows 10, Active Directory, Office 365, Microsoft Teams)
  • Responsible for the support of all end user hardware/software problems
  • Respond to, track and monitor all user support requests submitted via the Helpdesk, in person or by email or telephone
  • Carry out telephone and office communications in a professional, courteous and respectful manner at all times

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a similar IT Support Engineer role
  • Must have a relevant certification in IT administration/support e.g. Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL etc.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of PC hardware, software, printers, laptops, tablets, smart devices and associated peripherals
  • Experience in supporting the Office365 platform including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint etc.
  • Experience in the installation, configuration and support of the Windows 10 Operating System
  • Experience in the use of Active Directory to include setting up user accounts, password resets, account removal/transfers and similar issues
