Job Software Developer/ Engineer/ Architect

ICG UI Platform - Senior Web Full Stack Engineer

Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior, full-stack Software engineer empathetic with the challenges that UI application development teams face in delivering software in large, heterogeneous organisations.  If you are passionate about engineering excellence and building the best developer experience into your solutions, come and build a meaningful career at Citi and help thousands of developers.

You will be joining a new team within the Institutional Client Group responsible for building a cohesive, modern set of common functional services, frameworks and libraries leveraged by UI application development streams across ICG to build, deploy, observe and operate rich end-user applications, workflows and processes.

The Role:

As a senior software engineer in the UI Platform team you’ll be responsible for helping to design and maintain a suite of client-facing solutions used by UI application development teams that need to register, run and observe their applications.  Your solutions will be leveraged by tens of thousands of developers across Citi supporting applications used by hundreds of thousands of internal and client users, and must be simple to use, well documented with an excellent developer experience. This role is for a strong engineer with a strong bias towards simple, intuitive UIs, and modern, cloud-native, 12-factor applications.

Diversity is our strength and Citi proudly embraces a culture of flexible work. Engineering excellence and a hands-on background in modern software engineering are essential but inclusivity at Citi means your primary responsibility is to the team: supporting a diverse team, collaborating to further develop as engineers doing satisfying and valuable work, and enjoying doing it. You will be expected to positively influence our culture and collaborate with the team on strategy and technical delivery.

What you'll be doing:

  • This is a hands-on technical role, building UI services and solutions that will be leveraged by developers globally. You will demonstrate sound engineering principles including following 12-factor methodology and a good understanding of modern CI/CD toolsets.
  • Advocate and advance modern software development practices, including privacy and security first principles. Incorporate DevSecOps and SRE best practices, helping engineering teams navigate complex security and risk requirements and architect innovative solutions that are secure, resilient and scalable.
  • Ensure that your team delivers great solutions that users love by maintaining a culture of quality and engineering excellence.

Who you are:

  • You are a senior full-stack software engineer with a passion for building modern, cloud-native, fully observable UI solutions. You strive to build solutions that are valued by developers and have an experience-based understanding of what that means.
  • You have solid experience in an agile development environment with modern programming languages and technologies such as Golang, Java/Spring Boot, C#, Node.JS, Kotlin, Scala etc.
  • You have experience with implementing 12-Factor cloud-native applications using open and closed source standards and solutions such as Docker, Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift, Cloud Foundry, and public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure and GCP.
  • In depth knowledge of JavaScript and its idiosyncrasies, a clear understanding of functional programming paradigms and expertise in front-end tools such as React, Redux, RXJS, WebPack, NPM, TypeScript etc.
  • You have a good working knowledge of microservices architectures, Rest APIs, streaming and message queueing systems (Kafka etc.) and how to instrument them.
  • You are familiar with DevSecOps disciplines and have an understanding of CI/CD using modern tools such as TeamCity, Jenkins, Tekton, Spinnaker etc.
  • You love working together on scalable systems, embracing new technologies, and pushing the boundaries of “the art of the possible”.
