Zurich Dublin Technology Center is looking for a Head of Strategic SW Vendor Management (SAM)
to optimise software costs and relationship associated with selected strategic vendors – IBM, Microsoft and SAP, who can ensure that value of purchased software is utilised to the fullest extent for the organization. This is a challenging role, requiring to possess strong commercial acumen, understanding IT technology, licensing expertise for selected vendors and being able to collaborate with many different stakeholder groups within Zurich Group. 
GTO SW Asset Management comprises of an international team of SAM experts in three countries, managing a multi-million-dollar software portfolio and helping other IT stakeholders to achieve their objectives. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who would like to work at a groupwide level in defining and implementing 'Best Practice' methodologies related to SAM service.

Your Role

As a Head of Strategic SW Vendor Management (SAM) your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Provide forward looking direction for SAM specialists and ensure that SAM objectives for strategic vendors (SAP, Microsoft and IBM) are achieved.
  • Manage budget, provide transparency of costs for SW contracts and assure fair allocation of charges to BUs and Service owners based on software usage.
  • Conduct periodic licensing reviews to establish global ELP, execute contractual demand assessment and True-ups.
  • Oversee the management of contractual agreements, proactively identify and drive initiatives to achieve savings, developing best practices and processes, to continuously improve software asset management service and to ensure compliance with budget and contractual requirements.
  • Identify necessary changes and play key role in the complex software contract negotiations, manage demand and contract updates, liaise with external vendors, legal, contract and sourcing teams.
  • Provide consulting advice and recommendations as SAM subject matter expert for IT projects and ensure that software and hardware solutions are optimised from cost and compliance standpoint.
  • Organise global relationship meetings and prepare escalations to Senior Leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 7+ years of experience in developing and implementing asset management tools, frameworks and governance of which 3+ years in direct ownership of SAM service delivery.
  • Fluent spoken and written English. Knowledge of German is an advantage but not necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to process data and work in a complex global organisational environment.
