Graduate Systems Engineer

Joining the Infrastructure Services team you will be responsible for managing Infrastructure Level 1 Monitoring, Support and Troubleshooting, Server(Linux and Windows) Lifecycle management.

 

You will also become part of SIG’s Graduate programme providing you with a platform to advance your technical skills and to provide you with a strong focus on the engineering side of our technical environment. 

 

This is specifically aimed at students who wish to pursue a career in Infrastructure, and is designed to develop your technical and engineering knowledge. Allowing you to embark upon a challenging and highly rewarding career in technology.

 

From the beginning, you will be exposed to a mix of classroom-based training and hands-on practical experience, providing you with a rounded knowledge of SIG as a business and how technology plays an integral role in its strategy.

 

Throughout the programme you will gain a detailed knowledge of how infrastructure plays an integral role in supporting SIG. You will have a chance to share your ideas in a team environment and get immediate feedback to improve and innovate your thinking, this will also allow you to see how your work has a real impact on the environment you are working in. 

 

Our programme is designed to allow you to grow and understand the complexity of our environment with the aim of establishing you on the path to a highly rewarding career at SIG.


During the programme you will:

  • Work with experienced engineers and given exposure to support and project work in our production environment.
  • There will be an initial focus on honing your infrastructure skills such as Server builds, Windows/Linux Administration, python and power shell scripting, monitoring and network operations.
  • As you progress you will be given an opportunity to rotate between teams to further enhance your understanding of the role that infrastructure plays at SIG.
  • Hands on learning, specified white boarding sessions with engineering team leads and classroom 101’s to gain a wider understanding of SIG as a business.
  • Learn about SIG life from former grads who are now engineers at SIG.
  • Attend a number of social and sport events to learn about life at SIG and what we do outside of the office.

You will have completed a minimum 2:1 degree in a computer related discipline with some experience of:

  • Operating Systems & network troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of Infrastructure architectures
  • A scripting language like PowerShell/Python would be desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with traders and other members of the technology team.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a similar major mininmum of a 2.1 grade required.
