A talented digital design engineer is required to join the Packet Processing Solutions Group - an engineering team spanning sites in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Sweden. The team develops cutting edge products including:

  1. Network search engine solutions

and

  1. Compiler tools for generating packet processing designs

These products are aimed at making Data Centre networking solutions more effective. This is a highly strategic and important part of Xilinx’s business, targeting a set of customers that includes the most successful internet and cloud companies in the world.

 

The digital design role involves work on all aspects of the digital design flow (ASIC and FPGA) including architecture specification, RTL design, synthesis and verification. The successful candidate will over time gain exposure to all these aspects of the role and will have enormous opportunities for learning and self-development. The position is likely to require some travel for visiting other Xilinx sites.

Relevant experience/capability includes the following:

  • Ability to determine feasibility, effort, schedule and risk of proposed design features
  • Ability to meet work quality and schedule goals
  • Ability implement highly efficient digital hardware (lowest resources or highest performance)
  • Ability to communicate, verbally or in written form, technical information in an organised and understandable fashion
  • Ability to work in multiple phases of the digital design flow (e.g., requirements, architecture, planning, RTL coding, synthesis, integration, verification, timing analysis and debugging)
  • Ability to work very effectively within a team
  • Determination to continuously improve work practices for higher productivity and higher quality results.
  • System Verilog, FPGA or ASIC experience
  • C programming, microprocessors, embedded systems and Software/ Firmware design
  • TCL scripting or equivalent
  • Packet processing experience
  • Network search experience
  • DDRx SDRAM knowledge
  • AXI4 knowledge

Education Requirements

  • Degree in Computer or Electronic Engineering or similar qualification
  • Masters or Ph.D. in Computer or Electronic Engineering is a distinct advantage
  • Track record of high academic achievement

Years of Experience

  1. Recently qualified post-graduate and graduate engineers that have excellent fundamental understanding of what they have learned, an enthusiasm to apply the learning to create new products and an ability to work effectively within a team.
  2. Engineers early (up to 4 years) into their career with relevant experience in digital design using HDL
