About this role

Our Wholesale customers are operating in a highly dynamic environment,  managing customer migrations to cloud service ports and next generation access option. BT Irelands national network provides critical products and infrastructure to help our wholesale customers operate their networks and connect and service their customers.

Within this role you'll engage with our wholesale senior buyers and engineers in shape and develop innovative data networking solutions based on our range of optical, ethernet and IP-based products.

You'll  be supporting the Account Directors and Business Development team to close deals, negotiate contracts, terms and pricing. This requires the qualification and subsequent development of business opportunities in direct consultation with the customer, and the establishment and maintenance of close working relationships with the account team who act as the direct channel to market.

The Wholesale Data pres-sales Engineer will be the ‘go-to’ expert within the practice, marrying your understanding of our services and commercial framework with insight to the customers needs and challenges.

 

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • You'll be a brilliant advocate for BT Connect services helping customers with their current and desired future infrastructure and customer access requirements.
  • Actively support Account managers searching for new Connect opportunities in a defined list of customers.
  • Position the relevant BT services, conveying technical and commercial details of the offer. Prepare solution descriptions and proposal content to define the BT offer.
  • Use standard pricing tools to prepare services pricing with support from the B,A&I practice. Follow BT bid governance processes, including that pertaining to pricing and proposals.
  • Accountable with the BT Connect product manager for maximising outcomes for Connect opportunities, and for supporting our wholesale sales team to achieve our targets.
  • Accountable for successfully developing and presenting tailored technical and commercial solutions to retain existing BT business and develop and grow new revenue for BT.
  • Working with Product colleagues to understand the P&L in detail for the customer solutions being sold to ensure margins on all deals are maximised and component pricing parameters are aligned to market expectations.
  • Technical expertise and experience selling Optical, Ethernet or IP solutions to large wholesale or multi-national customers.
  • Strong analytical skills, to include pipeline achievement, P&L details, detailed understanding of customer trading & buying process/cycles and the ability to analyse competitor proposals as and when required.
  • Proven track record of delivering against targets within a technical sales team environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with strong influencing and negotiation skills, with senior stakeholders
  • Managing change, aligning and prioritising multiple demands.          
  • Excellent financial and commercial acumen.
  • The ability to work with the minimum of supervision, be part of a team and present a quality image.
