About this role

You'll be joining an Architecture team working on architecting the current and future voice platforms, systems and voice services. Working with a team of Network design experts, you will gain valuable experience working on core network technology. Your role as a key design team member and you will contribute to defining internal and external customer voice solutions. You’ll develop the voice network, platforms and systems from their current architecture to the next generation network deployments. You will lead innovation to bring new ideas and products to the market quickly and efficiently and before our competitors.

This role owns the Voice Platforms and is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the platform and systems. The role is also responsible for taking design requests, assessing them and implementing them (where appropriate) and working with the business to execute the roadmaps.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • You will create and own technical solutions for domain, cross domain or portfolio of work within a the voice technology area and delivers work autonomously.
  • You will be responsible for the planning and design of Voice Network system stack in support of our internal and external customers.
  • You will provide recommendations by understanding/explaining the technology evolution of the products/systems/ processes etc.
  • You will create and execute technical roadmaps specifically for the voice domain.

Skills:

  • Expert level understanding of voice and data carrier services such as SIP Trunking, E1/T1, POTS, SDWAN, MPLS, Internet
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of data, voice, internet and Cloud services in the telecoms market.
  • Experience working with Fibre, Wi-Fi, PDH/SDH, CWDM/DWDM, Layer2 / Layer3, MPLS, Voice PRA & SIP Trunking and SD-WAN.
  • Good Knowledge in Fibre, Copper and DSL, VDSL Connectivity and how they interact with a voice Platform

Experience:

  • A Degree in Electronics, IT, Computing or other relevant qualification is required.
  • You must have a background in  SIP and TDM network voice switching within the network planning arena. Good knowledge of SDH transmission.
  • Designed technology solutions and associated systems, and actively participated in strategy setting sessions and technology roadmaps
  • Proven experience in Voice network planning within a major communications company.
