This role is at the cutting edge of transforming surgical healthcare data, creating a cloud environment to where medical device data is aggregated to enable the development of patient-friendly products for years to come.

More specifically, the Data Engineer will be a key member of an innovative design team being formed to unlock the powerful potential of data contained within the surgical operating theater. In this team, you will work with developers from across Stryker creating the system architecture required to extract and send curated machine data from our IoT devices to the cloud. To improve patient outcomes, valuable insights will be gleaned from the data, creating tools and materials for our internal and external customers to drive best-in-class product development. 

You will work with stakeholders throughout the Stryker organization and beyond, including colleagues in product development, marketing and with our external clinical partners. You will collaborate with them to better understand their clinical and technological needs and particularly to demonstrate the potential value of unlocking this data. Based on understanding the needs of these customers, you will develop end-to-end solutions to ingest, transform and surface multi-modal healthcare data in the cloud, including structured and unstructured data, image data and electronic health record data from multiple disparate data sources.

• Assemble and create prototype small surgical devices for use in the OR
• Sometimes from new, sometimes modifications to existing devices,
• Final prototype will invariably be a small unobtrusive device
• Ability to either:
  • Integrate the prototypes into an existing IoT ecosystem
  • Create a new standalone IoT system that can extract and log multi-modal data (device parameters, video, images)
• Must have embedded software/firmware skills to be able to extract data from the new systems
• Must be comfortable sending the data to a remote (cloud) location
• Will have to test and validate the system design
• Ability to demonstrate these devices to an audience
• Occasional need to speak in front of key customers to gain Voice of Customer feedback
