PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Seeking experienced UX/UI designer with exceptional design, creativity and visual design production skills to become part of the UX and Design Ops team. This team values great design experiences and prioritizes design thinking across every single thing we build at Abbott. This role will help the candidate to progress in her/his career through practicing hands on design at scale for global markets, access to world class DesOps and Experience toolchain and ownership of creating seamless user experience. This is a UX/UI designer hybrid role with strong focus on production design.
Ambitious and motivated UI forward designer with strong UX skills. This candidate will be an explorative, curious and passionate designer who is able to advocate for the end user and comprehensively explain her/his process and decision making. We seek someone who is able to make their own decisions and be a strong individual contributor, as well as collaborate with various teams. Understanding of business vs user needs and ability to marry the two. The ideal candidate will be able to take ownership of their decision making, push back when necessary and educate the team on reasonings, while having great attention to detail in design and great communication skills. This role combines growing and managing a design system, while creating hands on designs that translate to usable digital assets through strong visual and interaction skills. The ability to help shape product strategy will be imperative as candidate will lead the design direction and strive to push forward design quality.
EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES:
Must have:
Experience creating, maintaining, and expanding Design Systems.
Ability to utilize design patterns in new creative ways.
Fluency in Sketch, InVision, Abstract, working knowledge of Google Analytics, Bootstrap, AEM.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to execute in a fast-paced and highly fluid environment.
URL/profile or case studies featuring examples of interaction design work and experience working with design systems.
Demonstrated experience with end-to-end (hybrid UX and UI) product design
Ability to execute on visual and interaction details
Preferred additional merits (optional)
Experience designing for various groups of people (international audiences, multi-language localization, accessibility for people with disabilities, etc.)
Experience in Motion design
