What you’ll do: 

This successful candidate will create thought leading research within our Software Engineering - Design and Development group for technology leaders around the world. 

S/he will publish original research, speak with clients directly, present at global events and on-site for client engagements.  S/he has a bold vision for the strategic imperative of high-value digital product design and development, using DesignOps, agile and DevOps practices.  A life-long learner and versatilist is who we want to join our team.

It is critical to have deep experience in product design and development, a growth mindset, and an insatiable curiosity for the impact that digital products have on markets, industries and society at large. Knowledge and experience with product design and development teams (in-house and/or outsourced) - from design sprints to testing in production - to delivery an end-to-end value stream is critical.   Our CIO and IT leader clients need actionable advice on how to shift their teams’ culture, practices and technology to support modern digital product development. 

As a Gartner analyst, you will meet with clients every day: on the phone, in a video-conference meeting, from the stage at a Gartner event, or face-to-face during an on-site engagement.  In every client interaction, analysts help clients solve difficult (organizational and technical) challenges that lead to better business performance .

To support these conversations you will research markets, practices and trends, and produce research for Gartner clients to apply to their mission critical priorities:

  • Conduct research and analysis to uncover digital product development best practices.
  • Deliver high-quality actionable advice through a variety of media.
  • Write provocative and pragmatic research that clear and actionable.
  • Create and delivery presentations for webinars, onsite engagements and Gartner conferences.
  • Track vendors, market trends and emerging practices to remain ahead of the curve within these areas, and adjacent spaces (e.g. digital transformation, culture change, and quality practices).
  • Promote Gartner’s industry leadership reputation by handling press inquiries
  • Deliver outstanding sales support in order to retain and grow the Gartner business

Gartner analysts are viewed as THE experts.  You need to know your markets, vendors, trends, team practices, etc. and be able to see the forest and the trees.  Most Gartner analysts have many years of hands-on experience and enjoy solving complex problems for the world’s biggest companies.

  • Subject matter expertise, with demonstrated knowledge of software trends, and emerging best practices for multiexperience (beyond web and mobile, now also chat, voice and AR/VR) product design and development.
  • Ability to formulate and articulate technology and business adoption scenarios that help senior technology leaders assess the opportunities, risks, and best approaches for modernizing their application development organization. Vertical industry knowledge a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues that cover application architecture and integration, product management, as well as with industry-specific analysts, such as healthcare and financial services.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, applying conceptual models and recognizing patterns to draw and defend conclusions.
  • Strong business acumen is required for this position.
  • Articulate and succinct communication skills. Experience in publishing and doing speaking engagements is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in an engineering management, UX design or product team management, and/or product marketing role.
  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience, preferably Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a related field; a graduate degree is a plus.
  • Ability to conduct occasional travel, regionally and globally.
