Solution Architect

Role Purpose & Context

There is an opening within the IT Architecture group of the CIO organisation for an OSS solution architect to work on some of the key strategic programmes in Eir. 

The successful candidate will be working initially as part of the development group who are undertaking a technology transformation delivering a solution stack based on open source software and the latest technologies e.g. containerized applications, microservices, distributed architecture, etc. This is a great opportunity to learn and to be at the forefront of driving change within the OSS domain. 

We are looking for candidates who are keen to learn new skills and technologies. You are a self-starter who brings keen analytical and problem solving capability and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You are either already a solution architect or desire to become one and have some relevant experience in the software development lifecycle. 

Knowledge / experience of the following is desirable but not mandatory; business analysis and solution architecture methodologies, designing solutions and defining architectures (particularly for the areas of Fulfilment, Inventory, Assurance, Workforce Management and Operational Support & Readiness). Knowledge of integration methodologies, web, database and modern software application architecture, software development methodologies such as waterfall, agile etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirement, system and process analysis while identifying opportunities for improvements.
  • Design and cost technology solutions that meet business requirements across the Consumer, Business and Wholesale markets. Projects ranging from small IT changes to major transformation programmes. 
  • Design technology solutions that facilitate the plan, design, rollout and in life management of telecommunications products and services.
  • Design technology solutions that are compliant with target-state architecture models, minimise spend on heritage technologies while maintaining business continuity.
  • Work with vendors, development partners and internal Subject Matter Experts on the identification of cost-effective, fit for purpose and strategically aligned solutions.

Qualifications

  • Competency Profile 
  • 3rd Level Degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or a related field preferred
  • Business Analysis and any relevant experience, qualifications, certifications
  • Solution Architecture and any relevant experience, qualifications, certifications
